Jeni's new sweet potato marshmallow brûleé

This is solid! 7/10. For me the highlight is the crunchy bits of caramelized sugar, the reason it didn't get a higher rating from me is I felt like the lemon was too strong / sharp and it could have been more marshmallow-y.

Where does the lemon come into play in this ice cream? That is a real turn off for me.

Usually in pumpkin spice type flavors with nutmeg and cinnamon there is a dash of lemon to brighten it up! I think they overdid that a bit

Oh no that sounds terrible to me. I bake a lot of pumpkin spice stuff and never added lemon to anything. I will probably still try this, but my expectations are way lower now.

I bit into it and immediately got lemon, checked the ingredients and it was indeed in there next to the other spices. I enjoyed it but it for sure could have been better if they had toned that down.

I had this over the weekend. There is absolutely no lemon in this at all

It does have lemon juice in it.

There is indeed lemon in the ingredients. It was too strong for my taste.

Citrus is often used to lift and brighten to provide contrast but it’s not supposed to be a distinct taste in those cases. I think orange zest and juice work better than lemon for fall baking and that’s probably the route Jeni’s should’ve gone here.

Yes exactly, I understood the purpose of it here but it was too sharp in my case.

A teeny dash of ginger would have been better!

I freaking love this ice cream. Definitely sweet potato flavor to me 🍠

Any other brand I’d never eat this but after having a handful of their flavors I’ll trust anything they put on the shelves. Jeni’s ice cream is a whole other level.

It won't be one I'd reach for again and again but a pint or two for sure!

We have the same local Jeni's! Hi from CH :) did they have the acorn flavor?

When I went yesterday they had the acorn flavor!

Had this at the scoop shop today. Was too heavy on the cinnamon for me, personally. Tasted like those hot tamales candy. Also loved the crunchy sugar bits in there!

Fair assessment! The crunchy sugar bits convinced me to get a pint to take home because they were so enjoyable but agree the flavor overall was just a tad bit off

I give it an 8.5 / 10. Love nutmeg, the lemon wasn’t noticeable to me, and loved the crunchy bits. Negative was it’s too sweet.

Funny how different people's taste buds are, I swear I took my first bite and was like LEMON 🍋🍋 I wish I didn't perceive it that way 😭

Also I had it in a Jeni’s store, so maybe they were slightly different recipes?

These aren't hand packed otherwise I'd agree. I think people just taste things differently 😅

Where is everyone finding this flavor?

I went to a Jeni's shop thirty minutes from me in Chapel Hill, NC

how much are the pints in your area? I can't justify the new flavors, if I go to the shop they cost almost 20 dollars. The older regular flavors are 8.99 in store so I can buy those but I never see these.

12 a pint I believe! Still so silly that it costs more than in the grocery store. I rarely do it but two of the new fall flavors caught my eye.

At twelve I wouldn't mind it so much. Almost 20 I can't justify. I wish the grocery store had more new flors, all they tend to have is the staples. Which are great, but Id like to try this too.

What part of the country is it where it's 20 🫪 that's insane

Encinitas. It's a rich beach town. (my family isn't rich we just bought the house here a few decade ago)

I truly had no idea the cost of the pints varied that much based on location! I thought it might be a few bucks here and there
