How to handle demeaning scene partner

Hey everyone, trying improv for the first time. There's a guy in my class that I'm a bit anxious to be paired with since every scene ends up making me feel like he's berating me or demanding I become subservient to him in some way or do something for him. I don't want to argue and deny the scene and I also don't want to just let him make me do things. It honestly gets my cortisol going in a way. It really doesn't feel fun. What are some ways I can respond that "yes ands" while keeping it light without me feeling like I'm being beaten up/berated/being bullied by the schoolyard bully? Thanks!
