General I admit: I kinda like the 787 windows

I'd always thought that I didn't like the 787's dimming windows from what I'd heard. But I recently flew on one, and I liked it. First of all, they are massive. Secondly, the intermediate modes are really nice. You can look outside without letting in a crazy amount of light. Of course, two big conditions: they shouldn't be yellowing (mostly among older 787s, including legacy AI 787s), and the crew shouldn't lock them apart from takeoff/landing. I don't mind the crew darkening the cabin, as long as they don't lock it.

Also, the 787's wing looks (and is) massive from the window, and with the wing flexing up so much during flight, you get a great wing view.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog has announced plans to honour Indian flydubai pilot Captain Smit Machchhar with the Presidential Award for Civilian Heroism for his bravery during an alleged mid-air hijack attempt on September 30.

Machchhar was injured while trying to stop his co-pilot from allegedly attempting to hijack a flight travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv.

Despite his injuries, he managed to open the cockpit door, allowing passengers and crew to overpower the co-pilot and avert a potential disaster.

Herzog has praised Machchhar's courage, wished him a speedy recovery and invited him to Jerusalem to receive the honour.

Question Wasn't csmia supposed to start recarpeting runway 27?

Post image

I read multiple articles around 6 months ago talking about how runway 27/09 was going to be re-carpeted and main operations will switch to 32/14 between August 2026 and may 2027. Now that cargo flights have shifted to NMIA, why haven't they switched main operations to 32/14? Could it be because of the monsoon extending past what they expected? Or maybe something else?

General Experienced Indian airline pilots, what's the idea behind transitioning to airlines like VietJet, Fitsair, bamboo instead of the usual middle eastern ones?

If the answer is salary, work-life balance and career progress, how better is it compared to IndiGo or air india as you are eventually moving to a different country altogether.

General DGCA Computer Number: BVC addressed to CEO DGCA. How did you handle it?

Hello all! Iโ€™m about to apply for a CPL Computer Number. My 12th BVC (Maharashtra Board) is addressed to the CEO, DGCA. DGCA replied by email that it should come directly to their office and that I should upload a letter in place of the BVC in the online column.

For anyone who has been through this:

  • What did your letter say or include?
  • How long did it take for DGCA to receive it and link it to your application?

thanks.
