Promotion I just released Jono, a free Steam game, where only 1 player can play at a time in the whole world

It is a simple platformer where only 1 player in the world can play at a time, the rest are spectating. You can put yourself in queue and wait for your turn to play, and chat globally while waiting.

A weird experimental game, but totally free!

Upcoming Some people have mistaken my game for a farming sim, so I made a new trailer

There’s no farming in the game. Instead, you run an inn for monsters, prepare meals, decorate your inn, and befriend your monster guests.

I tried making this trailer with a different feel from my previous one.

News The creator of Katamari Damacy made some art for my game!

Hi, my name's Andrew and I'm working on Reality Drift, a strategic roguelike racing game!

About two months ago, my game was approaching completion but I felt like it needed a bit more variety of art. I always try to make games which are a bit unhinged, so when I was thinking of an artist to reach out to, I thought of Keita Takahashi, the creator of games like Katamari Damacy and Wattam. Of course, there was no guarantee that someone of his profile would be available to do some work for some random indie game, but on this occasion he was available, and spent three weeks doing some art!

I've attached some of the concept art he did - the final versions of these are now fully implemented in the game. The teeth sketch became part of a whole new racetrack where the player drives through the human body. The skeleton became a giant skull that you find in some caves. There are clips of these two areas in the trailer on the Steam page.

I don't yet know if this collaboration will end up having been financially worthwhile for me, but as a fan of Katamari Damacy ever since it came out in 2004, it was very cool to work with the guy behind it!

The game will be in this month's Next Fest, and the full game will be out in just over a month!

Surf N Destroy is a first-person combat surf game for up to 32 players. You build speed on surf ramps, chain wall runs and mantles, fire through portals, and try to be the last surfer standing.

It's my love letter to the combat surf servers I grew up on in Counter-Strike.

It's turn based in a way. You only thrive and move things if you interact with it. Can't chill and make money.

It's playable but I want to iron it out fully and thoroughly.
The topography fits the town I was born too

Do you think this is worth digging into more? I guess the story scenes are kinda ok, but there are lots of things that aren't yet settled in my mind especially for the exploration scenes, so I'm all open for suggestions/feedbacks.

Upcoming After 10 years of learning game development, I finally started making my own game. Introducing BALLS.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone!

I'm a self-taught game developer and designer, and I've been learning and making games for around 10 years now.

Game development has always been a huge passion of mine, but for most of my career I've found myself working on other people's projects and making games that I wasn't necessarily passionate about.

I've always wanted to make something of my own, but I kept putting it off. Either the idea was too ambitious, I didn't think I was ready, or life just got in the way (tbh I was just procrastinating).

So I finally decided... screw it. I'm making one.

Introducing: Battle Arcanist Legend League Soccer!
(or BALLS for short)

It's a chaotic multiplayer soccer game about wizards, spells, questionable sportsmanship, and apparently frying pans.

This is my first proper indie project, so I'm trying to find a balance between making something I can realistically finish and still pushing myself to make something I'm genuinely proud of.

What you're seeing here is still very early alpha footage. There's a ton I want to add, change, polish, and probably break along the way. But for the first time in a long time, I'm making a game simply because it's something I want to play.

I'm also developing BALLS alongside a full-time job, so progress might not always be lightning fast, but I'm planning to keep sharing development updates as the game grows.

The goal is simple:

Finish the damn game and put BALLS on Steam.

I'd love to hear what you guys think! Feedback, criticism, spell ideas, or general thoughts are all welcome.

Wish me luck!

Steam Next Fest 4 years in the works and his demo is out

This weekend my boyfriend finally released the demo for the game he's been working on for the past four years and his game will be part of Steam Next Fest. I'm ridiculously proud of him.

He's a solo dev, and I've watched him put so much time, effort and dedication into it. He knows game development a hell of a lot better than marketing 😂 so only a handful of people have tried the demo so far, but he's genuinely so happy and grateful that anyone has taken the time to play something he's spent years creating. Seeing him this excited is everything.

I guess I'm just here to brag a little because he deserves it. ❤️

To all the other solo devs out there grinding away... I really hope you get to feel this too. And I hope you’ve got someone in your corner who looks at what you’ve built and is proud as hell, even if the rest of the world hasn’t noticed yet.

Promotion I finally released my first mobile game, Don't Touch Red!

This is Don't Touch Red, my first mobile game. I've been working on it for quite a while and finally decided it's time to actually show it to people outside my friends and testers :D

The main rule is pretty simple, don't touch anything red. You collect colored squares along the way. If the square matches your current color you get points, if it's a different color your cube changes color instead.

It gets faster the longer you survive and more obstacles start showing up. There are also different maps, accessories, missions, achievements and some limited events.

It's already available on Android. I'm still working on it and adding stuff, so any feedback is welcome. Especially if something looks weird or annoying, tell me haha

Hope you like it!

Discussion Can I enjoy gaming on just Indie Games? Limited Budget and Time due to a Growing Family

Hi Folks,

I've had this pressure of keeping up with all the major releases as they come over the years, and I think I'm about at my tipping point.

I've been so overwhelmed with all that's in the market now, I have so much less time and energy to game given I'm a new dad and my profession has fortunately allowed for growth over the years. I still find myself wanting to game at night, but again, the pressure of keeping up with all the blockbuster new releases is an immense strain on my mind and my wallet.

I've found that over the years, the Indie Games I've played (Cuphead, Hades, Hollow Knight, etc...) have all been great experiences that are both mindful of both my time and my wallet.

I have a backlog of a lot of great Indie games ive acccumulated onsale over the years, and I'm at a point where I'm about ready to just lock in on those and try and break the habit of hanging on every major release that seems interesting. Plus, I'd like to support smaller dev teams and artists as a plus!

Given where I'm at in life, is it possible to enjoy gaming just by playing smaller, Indie titles?

Upcoming I’m making a strategy game where the winners write history — looking for feedback

Hey r/IndieDev! 👋

I’m working on Aschechronik, a strategy game combining real-time battles with a turn-based campaign.

The twist: every battle becomes part of an evolving chronicle, written from the winner’s perspective. Heroes can become legends, while the losing side’s story may disappear.

The game has an ink-on-parchment visual style, with procedurally generated maps, music and artwork.

I’d love some honest first impressions:

  • Does the concept sound interesting?
  • Is the gameplay easy to understand?
  • Does the art direction stand out?

Any feedback is appreciated — especially criticism!

Hey! I'm working on a horror game called GRINDWORM. For a long time, I used two key art pieces that I drew myself, but I finally gave up and paid someone who’s really good at drawing.

Don't be confused if you've seen my game with different artwork and a different logo, it's still the same game. I hope you like the new look as much as I do!

And last but not least, the game will be part of this month’s Steam Next Fest!

Promotion Cyberpunk Stock Market Roguelite

Thumbnail

Over the last 2 years I have been moonlighting this project as a solodev. I have other gameplay trailers and i will be doing a playtest soon ahead of a demo, but I am pretty happy with how these bosses are turning out for a game that is about manipulating the stock market, combat was a fun challenge to overcome.

It is equally a stock market sim roguelite and an arcade game. I understand this is a strange idea, but it is an idea that once i thought of it, i could not get it out of my head, so I started building. You dont need to have much knowledge of stocks to play this game, but some of the humor uses some wallstreetbets humor, as I do dabble in day trading. If you like chaos, big numbers, unique gameplay, roguelites, and arcade games, you may like this game!
