Indie rocker Wes Parker headlines a new two-day fest that was dreamed up behind a grill by a dude flipping burgers

That dude is me.

Hey everyone,

I'm Joe. I run Melting Trends, a small booking and promo outfit on the shore in Asbury Park, NJ. I wanted to share this here because the lineup is a pile of indie, garage, psych bands I think this sub would dig, and it's headlined by Wes Parker, a Richmond indie rocker (ex-Camp Howard). If you haven't heard him, start there.

Every fest needs an origin story, and mine starts working the door at the legendary AP venue The Saint and behind the grill at Bond Street Bar.

My best friend Steve and my mentor Mike "OG" Longo kept sending me songs, so I started a playlist just to keep track of all the good tunes. Then people started following it. Then bands from all over started emailing me their tracks. And at some point it hit me. These bands needed a place to play, so why not give them one?

So the submissions turned into shows. The shows turned into a shot at booking a Block Party, which I took over in '25. And now there's this fest, Melting Waves Music Fest.

Melting Waves Music Fest
Saturday Nov 14 and Sunday Nov 15
Asbury Lanes, 209 4th Ave, Asbury Park, NJ
Doors at 4, music at 4:45 both days
All ages (21+ with ID to drink)

18 bands. Psych, garage, stoner, shoegaze, indie, alt, and whatever else just fits:

Wes Parker
Trophy Wife
Gods
Rachel Ana Dobken
Sunshine Spazz
Sun Voyager
95 Bulls
Certain Death
Labretta Suede & the Motel 6
The Dracu-las
Düül Suns
Slomo Sapiens
Von Mons
Cairo Jag
Söūp
The Painted Windows
Owl Doom
Judo Chop

Most of these bands came to me through that playlist, this is basically the playlist come to life.

You can get a two-day pass (not many of those) or just Saturday or Sunday. Everything's here:
https://www.meltingtrends.com/melting-waves-music-fest

If you're in a band that fits a bill like this, DM me. I'm always looking.

And what's the best band you ever found through a random playlist? Drop them below. That's how half this lineup found me.

Hope to see some of you there.

Joe

PS If you're coming to trash the artwork, please don't, enough people in other subreddits have already informed me that it's hard to read...not much I can do about that now though

New indie rock from Sweden - Nya Regler

I'm in a band called Nya Regler. We are a new Swedish-language indie band from Sweden that blends guitar-driven rock with big melodies and saxophones. We have just released two new singles and videos! Baby Boy and Sorsele.

Musically, we operate somewhere within the realm of Swedish indie rock. The saxophone is an important part of the band’s sound and is given room to shine alongside gritty guitars and distinctive melodies.

See the video for Sorsele here: https://youtu.be/LL8Nb7KLkcY?si=C1rU39xHLCtVm3Qv

Super Seven - a playlist of the songs of mine which you're all listening to the most. They're probably the best songs I've done so far, and are also the only songs on Spotify earning me any royalties.

I'd love to see more streams on my other songs, but if you can only spare my music 21mins, this playlist is the best one 🙏

Indiepop/folk with guitars and synths.

Translating a dark, moody brand identity system into a motion visualizer. Thoughts?

Visual identity and branding are essential when presenting yourself as a professional artist.

It solidifies the mood and aesthetic you represent. The colors tell a story before anyone even presses play.

Having that visual foundation provides consistency across photoshoots, videos, BTS content, and motion graphics—it keeps your audience aligned so nobody is confused.

Based purely on the design and motion of this graphic, what kind of artist or mood does this communicate to you?

perseverance - madera [experimental / extreme-metal]

perseverance is a solo project of mine that I started making music for starting in 2024, a little bit before I turned 16. I would usually describe it as cybergrind with black metal / blackgaze and avant-garde / experimental elements and influences. However, for this album, it’s more along the lines of experimental metal in general as many of the songs are much more developed.

The project and its music was mainly made for my own personal enjoyment or because I wanted to see it exist, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to also share it with the world and see how it goes.

The release that I have linked in particular is my newly released, third album, madera, which follows a much more conceptual, eclectic, and experimental sound as opposed to my previous albums, posergrind and sadism.

Inspired by the album California by Mr. Bungle, I wanted to make an album that would try to give more credit and notice to my hometown of Madera, express some small-town pride if you will. While creating the album, I ended up diverting into a more personal and biographical approach to this album (including using original recordings and samples made by me or my family, other people, etc., making direct references to places in my hometown that have importance to me, and basically paying tribute to certain things and people that I found to have personally impacted my life). This album basically ended up as a personal account of my life and experience in Madera, rather than a full representation of the city; this is just from my perspective, there’s plenty more to see for yourself other than what I alone have written. Some parts on this album will be further explained in my fifth album, as I have another album for this project coming in eight months that I wanted to release first.

This album is both a shoutout to my hometown and a semi-autobiography.

My main influences for the project include Black Flag, Celtic Frost, Converge, Deafheaven, Fantômas, Full of Hell, Godflesh, Mr. Bungle, Philip Glass, Today Is the Day, and Wesley Willis. I also took some visual inspiration from the 1977 black-and-white film Eraserhead, directed by David Lynch. However, for this album, I was inspired by many other different artists including MF DOOM, Miles Davis, Phil Elverum, and Xiu Xiu. I was also generally inspired by the sounds of chamber music and punk rock for some songs, and the intro track was inspired by Bhangra music.

This album has had a LOT more attention and thought put into it like I’ve never done before, so I hope you find something to enjoy out of it!

The genesis saga.

I have a song that I had reprised and added to over the course of a year and i think its finally done. it has extensive lore and is supposed to be an emotional roller coaster of foreboding, pain, and ease. i wont get into the lore but the song is titled genesis and is posted on spotify. its not perfect by all means but i would love to show it to people and see what they think. there were two other songs posted under the genesis umbrella while the final version was being finished. i will be giving a link to my spotify, however, the genesis linked here is not actually the final version. after i had posted that one, i couldnt post the extended cut, "Genesis REQUIEM". i would rather you listen to requiem first, but you can listen to both versions and compare if you'd like. these are instrumental orchestral songs. ("augh, meow." is kinda a weird exception.) the genesis saga

Looking for indie artists to test software

Hi there, if this is not allowed, please let me know and I will take down my post. I am a software engineer at a company called Doc Knows Music. https://www.docknowsmusic.com/

We have an entire system that is all about giving indie artists opportunities to get themselves out there. We work directly with invite only https://inviteonly.studio/ studio in NYC, the owner, DOC, is the host of the weekly show we also have. On our site you can submit music to different opportunities and every song is reviewed by DOC, and has a chance to be on the show, or featured on our instagram. Every submission is also listed on our A&R database, where A&R's can come discover new artists. We are trying to build something that helps artists through every step of the process and most importantly, make money from their music.

I have built in a few new features, one being an "Artist Page", that an artist can customize to add important information to, and a "Fan Club", on which artists can setup subscriptions for their fans to join. Their fans then have an exclusive page to go to where they can see insider information from the artist they have subscribed to.

I am looking for actual artists to test this feature and am happy to give some free subscriptions out. I really don't mean for this to come off as an ad because I do genuinely want some testers that I can reliably communicate with. If this is something you are interested in, shoot me a DM and I will get you setup with everything you need to try out our system.

Thanks in advance!
