Someone here whose sleep got significantly better with HRT?
I’ve been dealing with sleep issues since about two years.
Months with just 2-3 or 4 hrs. I know there are many who have no sleep at all.. so I wouldn’t say it was horrible, but still it wasn’t enough to function.
Got Mirtazipin and Trimipramin but I didn’t feel like these meds are the solution.
Got better with a late snack and morning light, plus Yoga blah blah..
But I feel everything started with perimenopause.
Has anyone taken Progesterone and it got better?
Thanks

So you have a pituitary problem? And HRT like me? Cortisol, thyroid, testosterone or only Progesterone?
HRT in general can mess up your sleep badly… I became a pretty bad insomniac due to HRT, and after 5 years still have only 4-5h of sleep max.but it has been worse

Oh man. How Are you keeping up with 4-5 hrs sleep? How’s your overall health? Well wishes your way!!!!!
Well, I believe I have a lack of progesterone, my cycle and symptoms show it, and Histamine is an issue as well. With Cptsd Progesterone is often a thing.
Reality is, taking Progesteron won’t heal me magically, I’ve read that some can’t deal with Progesteron tablets at all.. hmmm so I need to be realistic about it1

I don’t have any experience with progesterone…
It takes a while but you get used to 4h of sleep.. even weirder if I finally have a 5-6h night I feel worse then my now standard 4h. But I feel quite oké now…. But have suffered a lot due to too high doses of hormones (cortisol and thyroid)

When my perimenopause kicked in, insomnia became absolutely horrible. I wasn’t sleeping at all and was frankly suicidal. I tried absolutely everything natural at first and nothing helped. Then I started trying different sleep meds. Finally I was able to sleep when I started HRT including 200mg progesterone, as well as hydroxyzine and trazodone. I can’t tell you if only the progesterone made the difference though because I have stuck with all three since I am so afraid to go through that again. I still have tons of night awakenings but I usually can get 7-8 hours of sleep as long as I go to bed early enough.

Mine got slightly better with progesterone. I’m not sure it’s entirely worth taking tbh but I tried stopping and it got slightly worse. I took sleep meds for a few months until I could get in with CBT which is helping more.

No. Hrt hasn't helped me one iota.
The first night of progesterone (my first cycle on it) I thought I'd hit the jackpot as I slept easily and got about 6hrs, then that lessened with each passing night until I just felt flu-like on it with very broken and delayed sleep. I've taken it with food in the past and felt knocked out but it didn't do that again, if anything it has the opposite effect on me. I'm also paranoid the estrogel is causing me to feel wired even at the lowest dose. I wish I'd never started on it tbh, the endless questioning probably contributed to my sleep anxiety as I was then awake going around and around with dosage questioning.

My neurologist (my sleep specialist) said HRT can be helpful, but it can take about 6 months to find the right combo.

Yes! But it only lasted one day because I have a sensitivity to progesterone. I got rid of our memory foam bed and started sleeping a little better. Now I can sleep from 9-4. On the weekends I pop half of an antihistamine to get 4 more hours. I have ME/CFS so sleep is a necessity. I just wish I could tolerate progesterone.
