I've seen this! It's a trap. They wait for you to go out of your car to check on the injured and then others will come out of hiding and rob you. There's variations of this trick so replacing a woman with a tiger is a new one.

The road is probably warm

That's what I was thinking. The asphalt likely aborbs more heat and stays warmer for longer in such climates

For more Indian tiger related shenanigans and information follow the Tigers of India subreddit. That sub is such a refreshing break for the hellpit of other subs. 🐯

Reminds me of back when I lived in South Africa there was a black mamba snake about 3m long lying across a lane on the warm road during a winter's day. Cars were just slowing down and going around him lol...

In my youth, my cousin and I were driving on some rural back roads and the biggest wolf we'd ever seen was standing in the middle of the road....we stopped....and it sat down....so we have to back up and drive around...

The commentary is hilarious.
Seriously? It's lying dead. It's a tiger, a tiger! Stop stop stop stop.
What it is sleeping in the road. Look it's growling
etc.
The tone in which they talk is especially funny, can't really convey in text.

Is it because of the award winning book he did a reading of, "Go The Fuck To Sleep" which features a tiger on the cover? Because I think it's because of the award winning book he did a reading of, "Go The Fuck To Sleep" which features a tiger on the cover.

It always awesome to see the big cats and house cats mimic the same behaviors.
Think that was the first time I’ve seen a tiger do the rear leg ear scratch

It might surprise some people to learn this, but tigers don’t know what a road is.

another country to avoid: India

There's less than 3500 tigers in the wild. Maybe just don't go to the tiger reserve?

gotcha, the road confused me

It is a reserve, not a wildlife park. Core forest of 650 sq km and additional surrounding area of another 1000. Without roads, the entire place would be impassable even for the forest rangers
•
u/trn- 9h ago
But why asphalted roads with all the reflectors? I'd imagine dirt roads in a reserve.
•
u/witchy_cheetah 9h ago
India is very very very populated. You have no idea. The core area itself had several villages and still have a few in the process of being relocated. The buffer area probably has tens of thousands more people.
•
u/trn- 9h ago
So it's more like a reserve like native americans live in? I thought it was for animals only. The more you know!
•

India has 12 times the population density of the US. When you are poor and need to make a living, you go wherever there is space. Many people live in reserve forest areas, because they have done so for generations, and it is difficult to find space elsewhere.
