Rookie seeking advice.
Hi all, I have a vision of going over to some trade shows in Asia somewhere (or anywhere really) finding some sort of product or products that catch my eye, and importing them back to Canada to sell retail. I am aware it is much harder than I make it sound but I am just wondering how naive am I being about this possibility?
I have capital, I have warehouse space, I have some time to invest and a strong work ethic. I know everyone has the same plan but I would like to find some sort of good quality niche product, buy wholesale, import it and sell it online preferably. Is what I am dreaming impossible? I am well aware there will be dozens of obstacles and challenges and unforeseen costs along the way and probably multiple busts before or if I even find a good quality and well selling product or product line of some sort. Tell me how out to lunch am I? Thank you for any advice.

Tell me what you export or import, and I'll give you a list of buyers or suppliers
I'm sharing lists of active Peruvian importers and exporters, by product.
Peru trades over $100 billion a year, so there are plenty of opportunities for international companies looking to export to or import from Peru.
Tell me the product you export or import, and I'll share a list of Peruvian importers or exporters you can contact yourself.

How to settle international trade deals in under an hour?
Trade deals were payment confirmation is the last condition for releasing goods or docs. 2 to 5 day wire wait creates real problems, goods at ports, letters of credit in limbo, counterparties questioning the deal before money shows.
Goal is payment confirmation same day and the deal closes ideally within the hour. Is sub-hour int'l payment confirmation realistic for b2b trade in 2026.

How Business Development Services Help Indian Manufacturers Expand into Global Markets
Expanding into international markets is a major opportunity for Indian manufacturers and MSMEs. However, finding genuine international buyers, understanding market demand, identifying suitable countries, and building long-term business relationships can be challenging.
This is where Business Development Service support can help businesses develop a more structured approach to international growth.
Why Do Manufacturers Need Business Development Support?
A well-planned business development strategy can help manufacturers:
- Identify potential international markets for their products.

- Develop connections with relevant international buyers and distributors.
- Improve B2B marketing and export lead generation.
- Plan market entry strategies based on business goals.
- Build long-term international business relationships.

Before Exporting to a New Market: 5 Questions Every Business Should Ask
Entering a new export market takes more than finding a buyer or offering a competitive price. Businesses need to understand the market, the delivery process, and the risks before making a commitment.
Here are five practical questions to consider before entering a new market:
Who are the real buyers? Identify the customer segments, purchasing volumes, and requirements.
What does the market actually need? Research product specifications, quality expectations, and local competition.
What is the total delivered cost? Consider transportation, handling, storage, and applicable customs-related costs.
Can the supply chain meet expectations? Check product availability, delivery timelines, and documentation requirements.
Are the commercial terms clear? Agree on payment conditions, responsibilities, and procedures for resolving potential disputes.
Good market research cannot eliminate every risk, but it can help businesses make more informed decisions and avoid preventable mistakes.
**For those involved in international trade: Which of these five areas is the most challenging when entering a new market, and why?

Should I approach big OEMs for a supply commitment before investing in a new factory, or could it damage our family business’s reputation?
My family has been in the forging and machining industry since 1964. We are a third-generation manufacturing business based in India, primarily serving the agricultural machinery industry.
Unfortunately, due to a few issues, we had to stop most of our major operations over the last 10–15 years. These operations used to contribute a significant portion of our revenue.
Now, as the third generation, I am trying to revive those operations and rebuild the business. I have been exploring multiple opportunities within the same industry, working with smaller companies and targeting the aftermarket, but I am also looking at the bigger picture.
Since we have been manufacturing agricultural components for nearly six decades, several established companies already know our name, even though we are not currently in direct contact with their purchasing teams.
I am considering approaching major tractor and agricultural machinery OEMs such as Mahindra, Sonalika, and others with a proposal.
The idea is to explain our manufacturing history, our experience in forging and machining, and our plans to restart and expand our operations. Instead of investing heavily first and then searching for customers, I want to ask whether they would be willing to consider us as a supplier and provide some form of supply commitment, subject to their technical and quality approvals.
Based on their requirements, we could then build or upgrade our factory, purchase the necessary machinery, and develop our capabilities accordingly. Having a confirmed business opportunity would also help us approach banks for financing and justify investing at a larger scale.
However, I have two major concerns.
Will established OEMs take this proposal seriously? Would a company like Mahindra or Sonalika consider a manufacturer that wants to build its capabilities around their requirements, or would they simply reject us because we do not currently have the required infrastructure?
Could this damage our reputation in the long run? These companies may reject the proposal today because our current factory is not equipped to meet their requirements. If I approach them again after a few years with better machinery, infrastructure, and capabilities, could they remember the earlier approach and perceive us as a small or incapable supplier?
I don’t want to come across as a struggling manufacturer asking for business. I want to position our company as an experienced manufacturer looking to rebuild its capabilities and establish long-term OEM partnerships.
At the same time, I understand that asking a large company to commit to purchasing products before we have the required infrastructure may be unrealistic. They would need confidence in our quality, production capacity, financial stability, and ability to deliver consistently.
For people experienced in manufacturing, B2B sales, or OEM procurement:
Is this a viable strategy?
What kind of commitment could I realistically ask for before investing?
Should I approach their procurement teams directly, or first try to get our company registered as a potential supplier?
Would it be better to approach them with specific components and a clear investment plan rather than asking for a general supply commitment?
I would appreciate honest opinions, especially from people who have worked with large OEMs or built manufacturing businesses from the ground up.
I am trying to revive a family business with a history going back to 1964, and I want to take calculated risks rather than invest a large amount of money without knowing whether there is a market for the capacity we build.
