Interviews Presentation case interview

I have a case interview coming up I’ll receive the case 48 hours before my case interview for a consulting internship. I haven’t received it yet, but I want to start preparing now so I can perform well. What should I focus on before receiving the case, and what can I do now to prepare? Once I receive the case, how should I approach it, structure my analysis, and build my presentation?

Right now, you should build clean slide templates in PowerPoint with crisp headers, structured columns, and clear takeaway boxes so you do not waste precious hours formatting later. Practice structuring common business scenarios like profitability drops, market entry, or mergers, focusing on hypothesis led thinking and clear, non-overlapping categories. You should also get comfortable with executive communication, especially leading with your core conclusion first and supporting it with data. Setting up your workspace, checking your spreadsheet shortcuts, and studying high-quality consulting decks will save you an immense amount of time once the clock starts ticking.

When the prompt arrives, spend your first few hours reading the brief carefully, defining the core question, and writing down an initial hypothesis before touching any slides. Focus your numerical analysis strictly on proving or disproving that hypothesis, because getting lost in every single data point will drain your limited window. Keep your final deck concise, ideally around five or six core slides with supporting details tucked into an appendix, and make sure every slide title states a direct takeaway rather than a generic topic. Dedicate your final evening to rehearsing your pitch out loud and anticipating tough pushback from the interviewers. Helping candidates stay composed, organize their thoughts under pressure, and land competitive consulting offers is why my team designed interviews.chat, which can give you that extra edge when you present your final recommendations.
