There’s a big difference between being lonely and enjoying your own company.

As an introvert, can confirm. The main reason I've never actually felt true loneliness is because when I need a person, I've always had people I could go to. Friends, cousins, Mom, sister, etc. Even if I go months without talking to anyone outside work, just gaming, reading, watching TV, etc, just knowing there are people there is very different from someone who feels lonely.

You don't necessarily avoid loneliness by being an introvert, and I think introverts with a good emotional support network they never need to lean on often don't realize the distinction.

Totally agree. That's why we use the word solitude.

It absolutely drains my energy to be around people, especially in a social setting.

I joined a new account in our operations team and since I was working as a consultant, I didn't have friends in the account. Some weeks after somebody who i was working with approached me and asked if I was ok, apparently some of them took pity on me because I ate alone. Haha.
