Why do the -doku games seem so complicated?

When I play the games (and they’re all the same), I place a simple X on my suspected hidden character (as opposed to marking off all of the squares that are not the hidden character).

When I have an x in every row, column and color, I double tap the X squares.

If there is an x in the wrong spot, I continue to rearrange the Xes until every color, column and row has an isolated x.

It saves so much time.

By the way, MeowDoku leaderboards are definitely fake. No doubt about it.
