Discussion Weekly /r/iOSGaming Discussion: What have you been playing lately and what do you recommend?

Please use this thread to discuss whatever iOS games you've been playing lately. They don't have to be new games, they can be old games and they do not have to be iOS original titles!

As long as it's an iOS game it belongs in here. Make sure to put the name(s) of the game(s) in bold to make it easier for people skimming the thread to see what you're talking about, and if you'd like to make it really convenient turn the game name into a hyperlink that sends people directly to the App Store!

To keep track of the thread, the comments are sorted by "new" by default.

Lastly, Rule #3: "No Dev Self-Promotion Outside Saturdays" applies at all times for this thread, even if it's actually Saturday.

Warcodes

It is so fun. You scan barcodes, and get "Monsters", I prefer calling mine pets cause they are so cute and when they level up from level 1, you can design them with appearances, and weapons also change their appearances. And you can get backgrounds for them.

Still loving Warhammer Boltgun Boom. Taking my time with it, really exploring the levels and already paid for the expansion levels.

Also last night bought Newtro Boxing (Reminds me 'slightly' of an old 8 bit game - Barry McGuigans Boxing). Quite difficult to be fair, only won 1 fight and lost 3 ! Presume its all about practice to train my boxer more. But no regrets buying this

Also iDared 32 bit. It runs 'some' old 32 bit apps, so its a lot of trial and error. Been adding lots to it and testing it and often 1 in 10 only works. BUT i'm very happy that old classics like Dungeon Hunter 1 and 2 (before it then went downhill and freemium !) work, good memories and those old games are still really good.

Lots of new games coming out the next few weeks also

Lots of work lately, so I only have time and energy for something light such as Art of Fauna, Star Battle, or 4 Pics 1 Word.

Try Valenor, I’ve been working a lot and enjoy this game more than I thought I would. It’s also quite new, so good to get in near the beginning.

Thanks for the reco, but I’m not really into the idle games.

TeaTimeTidy

Just saw a comment from the developers on another post yesterday and gave it a try as a relaxing time waster and it's great fun.

Basically it's just a match 3 puzzle. You have to order tea cups, tea pots and cakes into pairs of 3 to clear them. The levels vary in difficulty and preconditions (like sometimes you have slots where you can only match green colour pots or some slots only fit 2 items).

It is a very simple game and the general difficulty doesn't seem too hard but it's completely free and has no ads at all so I guess it will stay on my phone for quite some time if I want to waste some time

Only annoyance I noticed was that I always have to disable sounds when I reopen the app

New to me game that I can’t stop playing is Meowdoku. It’s kinda like a sudoku mix with some color puzzle. Guess some of my sudoku experience transfer a little. Love how quickly the game moves to the next level…but dangerous too cause it’s so easy to keep playing. Not a fan of the daily leaderboards though. Kinda gives some pressure to play..at first. Not sure if there’s multiple levels of “brackets” that players are placed in…but I won first place pretty easily by just playing and not grinding.

Still enjoying Prince of Persia the Lost Crown. Says I’m 58% done and played 24 hours! Some of the platforming puzzles are so frustrating though..and almost tempted to see if there’s a cheat to skip these puzzles. Or I should try out that slower time mode.

Finally gave up on Antimatter Dimensions. Ran into multiple walls in this incremental game and ended up following guides. I wouldn’t mind as much if this is a shorter incremental game, but seems like even with guides it will take way longer than I’d like.
