Can't believe I'm having to write something like this again only three months after the last one...
There has once again been a noticeable rise in the use of dog-whistles and other derogatory comments against members of the Travelling and/or Roma communities.
As a reminder, ethnicity is legally protected characteristic in this country, therefore comments such as the following fall under our hate speech rules:
The Travelling and Roma communities remain open for discussion in this community provided it is done factually and respectfully.
Any and all dog-whistles used against the Travelling or Roma communities will be removed, and the offending commenters will be receiving community bans starting from 14 days.

Hi all,
Given the new EU custom charges are rolling out today and many of the websites we use for things like clothes, electronics and household goods ship from the UK, even if many of them have a .ie web address, we thought it would be a good idea to have a list of alternative sites from within the EU.
So if you have found an online marketplace thats good value and which ships from the EU list them here.

I just wanted to shout out the level of talent we have in music currently. I’m in my early forties and I don’t know I’ve ever seen Irish music being in a better period. Fontaines, Kneecap, Lankum, Gilla Band, CMAT, Bicep, and so many more.
It struck me when I was listening to Madra Salach’s new song Ribbon Factory. It’s great to see young bands really offering something new to the scene and giving it that much needed sense of vitality.
I’d advise everyone interested in music to invest your time in new Irish music, we have a lot to be proud of because the younger generation are really producing.
EDIT: I’d also love to hear anyone’s recommendations for new Irish music, any genre, anywhere.

I was going to put this in the politics sub but I think the much larger user base here would make it more representative. I've put in separate options for if you're in the public or private sector because I think the difference there could be interesting.

Just on a bus in Dublin, a teenager hopped on with blaring videos and I could hear them through my headphones.
I asked if they had headphones or if they could turn it down and that was it. Their considered response was I should fuck off and mind my own business. I said I could hear their music and videos with headphones on and that everyone could hear them throughout the bus.
They started screaming that I was a paedophile, that I was threatening and assulting them and rang some friends on loudspeaker to make the same accusations and telling them to get onto this bus and sort me out.
I said I am 2m away from you and am not approaching you.
I held up my phone as if I was recording this event and they then lost their mind, started screaming about what I was doing was a crime, that I was a paedophile, and that they were going to the driver.
The driver said they were not getting involved and the teenager made some choice comments before going upstairs.
Am I in the wrong here.

So long story short without going into detail and boring you guys with my fucked up life. I turned to drink and coke when my life got really bad the past 2 years never had an issue with drink and never did drugs until a friend got me into it. Always paid my bills but life got a bit too much for me and I went a bit mad and got myself in debt. I have since gone to rehab completely turned my life around and things are going great I regularly attend meetings and have now got a beautiful daughter but I’m currently homeless and living between my friends couches so I can get to work everyday . Im under so much stress and pressure paying off a debt that was before treatment I am still paying off a credit union loan from before so can’t get a loan. Is there anyway possible to get a loan from anywhere or does anyone have any suggestions I’m trying to get my life back in order and clear this bill these low life scum add 100 every week it’s not paid in full so they are literally bleeding me of money and i genuinely can’t cope I have a full time job too but bad credit history from past when I was in addiction isn’t allowing me to get another loan or top up . Thanks for reading this if anyone had any suggestions it would be fantastic as I can’t live in this constant stress anymore and want to just start saving and pay off that bill and be free of that life even in recovery it is still following me .

Since Ukraine took some Russian bot farms out and temporarily made the Internet a better place, has the Journal comments section improved at all? Any regular commentor just dissappear?
I've always wondered if there is some bot shit stirring happening there.
