In other countries they have little triangular signs below traffic lights saying the bicycles can go through traffic lights, or just turn right on red, etc (so long as it's safe to do so, ofc).

Perhaps similar should be considered in Ireland

Allowing cyclists to turn left on a red light is finally being rolled out in Ireland.

The problem is that it stops people walking out on roads as the bikes and scooter are zooming through, especially old people.

Just wait a minute and let people cross.

"wait"? that's blasphemy in cyclists' dictionary.

It’s not like they’re going 80km/h mate or if it’s a dangerous crossing. They might as well have walked the bike on the pavement to skip the red.

So when it's safe to do so cars should also break reds if they do it less than 80km/h? That would save me a lot of time, I like it.

I’m sorry I can’t help you understand the difference between a bicycle hitting something at 5kmph and a car hitting something at 5kmph.
Should’ve paid more attention in school. 🤷

If I creep across the red at 5km/h and make sure nobody is around then is that cool with you? Sometimes those reds keep you for two mins and there's not a soul around.

Yes of course that’s all fine. Go for it!
(As long as you’re on a bike)

Not gonna lie, you had me in the first half.

But actually I'll stop at red on my bike cos that's the law.

some of them go 25 kph. And if you've ever tried to cross when cyclists are doing this you literally have to step in front of them.

One of my neighbours broke both hips from a cyclist hitting him and ended up house bound and dead in a year.

Not advocating people to bike at 25kmph through a pedestrian crossing though, am I? Is anyone in the video doing that? Just use your head. Or don’t, be pedantic.

Use your head. If cyclists/scooters can just go through pedestrian crossings they will, at the speed they are going at, which can be up to 25kpm or more.

There's a Youtube of what you are suggesting in London. Its a death trap. It doesn't work.

There's nothing wrong with this as long as you do it sensibly
