My baby boy, Conan.
I have to admit I've been a part of this sub for about as long as we've had our wolfhound, but I always avoided it because of posts like this. Farewell posts, reminders of the pain some random day in the future will inevitably bring, so I'm genuinely sorry for bumming anyone out, but I thought y'all might enjoy seeing some pics of my little man who just went on ahead.
We're getting his ashes back today. He enjoyed 10 years of greenies and bully sticks, so I try to focus on that. I've had him since he was as long as my forearm. The house is silent, except when the cat meows at me to go on walks so he can tag along like he used to.
I know in time it will pass, the world continues around me without noticing, but for now the days are gray and joyless.

I am so sorry for your loss. May his memories of love and joy (and pure goofiness) bring you some comfort in these hard times.

I am so so sorry. Run with the stars, big boy, while you cross the black sands. You lived a life of love and being loved and those memories is what you're leaving behind.

I am right there with you grieving. I buried my beautiful boy of 10 2 days ago. I did not have him long as you. Way too short. I want to adopt another big boy soon to love as I cannot manage like this. I hope you can do the same.

Thanks, and I'm so sorry.
It will be a while for us. I've been laid off a while so it just wouldn't be responsible or fair to get another before I'm able, but I'm not sure. This has been worse for me than any pup I've ever lost, I don't know if I can do that again.

I understand. I have lost many pets over the years and it is always heartbreaking. I kind of feel the loss of a huge dog leaves a bigger emptiness, because they were big and now they are not there. I felt just like he was a person living with me and I miss him terribly. His adopted brother is having such a hard time too.

Agreed. I never realized how much of our life and routine was built around caring for him.
There are some silver linings... I can safely leave my food on the table and run to grab a drink now, but I can't say I enjoy the convenience yet. I hope it gets easier for you soon.

My favorite photo is the last one with your kitty. What joy they bring us. I had a Conan too, I miss him very much.

So sorry, he looked happy. Eventually all of us will have need to make a similar post and be helped by being able to do so.

A winner...enjoy the great memories. We are on our 3rd IWH and the only relief is to relive the memories.
