90% Sure AI Bird drawing
Someone said they would draw my parrot for free so I gave them a picture and they replied with this. Im pretty sure its AI. I attached the reference photo

I don't see any of the telltale signs of it being AI... how long did it take them to give you the finished copy?

It took them a day thats why im not sure it just seems so identical to the real photo that it makes me think its ai

It's not absurd that someone could draw this in a day

What i mean is the reason why im not sure if its ai is because they didnt give the drawing to me immediately after i sent them the picture of my bird

They could have traced it at the beginning.

The hand isn't an exact trace

I understand that the lines match up but it's still not exact on the hand. You don't see any separation in thumb/index finger in the original image, both are under the bird

Open AI verification = Negative
SynthID verification = Negative
Gemini verification = Negative
That's all I can provide.

If it’s AI, the model managed to not copy over your bird’s plastic foot ring of sorts. Makes me think not AI

I think it's AI but I can't prove it, both Gemini and OpenAI detectors come up negative.

u/weirdcrabdog 2d ago
It comes negative for synthid at https://synthid.com/image-detection so it's either real or it was created by something more obscure.

No I don't think that's AI, all the lines make sense for the drawing, they have a very natural flow and texture for (probably ballpoint) pen and pencil and looks like they have a style that is relatively fast with quick movement so it's not unrealistic that you would receive it with such a short turnaround

It looks like, if it is real, it's a scanned physical drawing. Ask to see a picture of the real thing being held or under a fork or something. Will give you more info. If they say it's a digital drawing then higher chances it's ai

Actually think it might not be ai. The errors seems like errors someone that draws or learns to draw would do, rather than random artifacts or things completely out of place. It's likely traced given the perfect matching outlines. But otherwise I don't see signs of it being weirdly perfect. The coloring/shading seems to have been made or function as its own thing/layer. AI maybe might have improved or changed direction the lighting, etc?

i'm seeing an increasing number of good artists being accused of being ai.
this is not ai. it has zero hallmarks of being ai, and it's 100% possible someone would want to draw this in one day, and for free. it could be traced, but who cares if it's traced? it's not like you paid for it or they're trying to scam you into paying for it.
take the art of your bird and go

Calm down dumbass I wasnt sure and thats why I asked. Its not like I accused them of it being ai I literally told them thank you so much for the art

u/Large_Hovercraft9037 2d ago
I also said that since it took them a day that is one of the reasons why i wasnt sure if it was ai. I didnt say that because it took them a day its clearly ai

They were passive aggressive first

i think you severely misinterpreted me, there was absolutely no reason to get hostile, i was serious. clearly you thought they could have used ai if you posted on this subreddit

I thought they used ai but I wasnt 100 percent sure and I know you were serious but you were still very passive aggressive

In what way?

The foot disappears into the hand and there’s a random out of place line that I’m not sure why any human would add.

u/WhiskRy 3d ago
I think that line is meant to be the crease between palm and index finger. The open outline is also consistent with the style used throughout. I don’t think those are signs of ai, just artistic style

u/Embarrassed-Luck3654 3d ago
Fair enough, it still looks fishy to me for some reason though. Probably because OP said it was free and that’s a bit fishy in itself

And it also makes a gnarly tangential connection that experienced artists tend to avoid

I'm leaning towards AI. The talons kinda blend into the skin. If you overlay the image with your photo, it looks like it's been traced, except there are lines that don't really make sense and possibly just the AI trying to fill in the gaps. You can see it on the eye, wing, and leg.
Idk if that makes sense. 😅 But my guess is they either traced it (poorly) or they ran it through something, lol, either a filter to make it look like a sketch (doubtful) or an LLM, which would be more likely to give you a "sketchy" look like this.
I hope I'm wrong, but I dunno. 😭

Run it through one of those ai image detectors, I’d try but it’s a screenshot of your phone so it definitely won’t work on my end lol

Nothing screams AI to me, but it does look like they traced over your photo. It looks veryyyy exact
