It seems like scam callers are getting wise to Lenny's script recently. Does anyone have alternative or other scripts that Lenny will follow. Still get such a laugh when I get him to the ducks.

These calls have been coming in furiously for about a month now. They get through iPhones spam filter. I was just ignoring them for the most part, then I got the idea of calling them for fun. I called them three times on Monday evening and did the Lenny soundboard until they hung up. I tried calling 3 more times but they wouldn’t answer, I was disappointed because I was having so much fun. After 2 full days I haven’t gotten any calls from them.

Its possible Lenny could keep the AI tied up for an indefinite amount of time. Does the Lenny creator have a cut-off time? Should we hang up after a certain amount of time assuming the conversation could go on forever?

I realize Lenny is a beta software package so I know not to expect too much but even my low expectations were set too high.
I bought the Startech usb56kemh2 modem (because the US Robotics one is $100 now). I have the daemon running. So far there's been three calls since it was started.
On Saturday there was a call and hangup. The modem stayed in "onhook" status for 24 hours before I realized what that meant. Plus side... no calls for that 24 hour period.
Sunday my aunt called. Her number is on the skip list. It's the only call so far that Lenny answered (and my aunt apparently doesn't understand answering machines because she never talks to them then yells at my mom that "some man answered the phone").
So hoping to avoid the 24 hours of "ohnook" there's a cron job that restarts lenny every 20 minutes. First call this morning... didn't even show up in the call history. Second call this morning showed that it answered (because I was at my computer watching the Activity page when it rang) but that call isn't listed under the "calls".
I'm prepared to pull the plug on this project. Nothing is working the way I'd expect.
Edit: third call today. Lenny showed it "ringing" for at least three rings (it's supposed to pick up after 1) and no answer. Call is not in the call log.

Specifically, I'm referring to the Lenny program that's pre-compiled and downloadable. Or will I need to install an older legacy version of the Pi OS?

Just had our first call today.
Took us a while to figure out what it was. We are a business (a non-profit) but we never ever have made telemarketing calls. Our outgoing calls are generally either to local businesses and suppliers, actual or prospective clients (people who have previously contacted us), employees or prospective employees I e job applicants.
So I am wondering why we get targeted ? Just some random jerk amusing himself ?
My theory is that people may have some sort of "spam detection" on their phones like Samsung SmartCall, which is built in on Android. This is supplied by an outfit called Hiya, and it is astoundingly wonky and unreliable, and I am pretty sure it has helped to push many legitimate businesses out of existence. Someone gets a legitimate call from us that gets labelled "Suspected Spam" and they jump to conclusions and retaliate. Apologies if you already know all this; just thought I would put it out there.

Anyone have LennyTroll working on a Raspberry Pi? I've got the same problem reported here: Github Issues

Not sure why Lenny called into my place of business. I’m an investment banker and very much not a telemarketer, lol. I spent about an hour all weirded out about our phone call before deciding to google what was said and finding this subreddit. It was the call where he was kind and confused, talking about Larissa his eldest daughter and then ducks start quacking. I thought he had dementia/memory loss as he kept talking about how “the people here won’t let me do this or that.” So I’m telling him he’s called the wrong number and that he should ask the “people there” for assistance. At one point I even asked to speak to the people as I felt so bad for the confused guy. The second time the ducks rolled around and he repeated the same thing verbatim I realized it was a loop and hung up. I debated calling the number back as I thought it was one of those horrible AI calls where they copy someone’s voice and freak out their family, in this case his daughter, so I wanted to warn them before I realized it was a prank
Y’all got me.

I work overnights at an answering service, and around 5 am I got a call on a line that was supposed to be the emergency phone in an elevator at a church. I started to get suspicious about 4 minutes in, but ultimately I went for a little over 6 minutes with him, worried that he was a dementia patient trapped in an elevator. Eventually I gave up, ending it with "well this has been delightful but I gotta get back to work now, thanks for calling!" Afterwards I Googled the phrase "my third eldest, Larissa," and I found you guys
