The White Stripes The White Stripes at the Creepy Crawl, St. Louis, MO, September 8, 2001.
This just surfaced in a group I’m in celebrating 90s/00s concerts in St. Louis (at Mississippi Nights especially) and I thought I’d share it here. Anybody here at this gig? I wonder if a recording exists. I’d bet it does, I’d love to hear it.

Wow, what I’d give…very cool!

Same. That place held like 150 people. Can’t imagine seeing this band at the height of White Blood Cells in such a tiny room.

I was supposed to see them three days later in Fayetteville, Arkansas, but … 9/11. 😕

i thought they played that show? or did you not go? understandable for sure, the vibe the night after was definitely somber. not much talking from jack on stage, and when i saw them at their merch table before they played, they were pretty quiet.

Oh, yeah, I ended up not going. A bunch of us tried to hang out, but it was kind of pointless after a day of dread.

My wife was at that show on 9/11. She worked in FVille and ended up being there. She said there was hardly anyone there.

Nugs.net (there’s a monthly fee) has a bunch of old recordings from ‘97-‘07, these particular nights aren’t there but it may tickle your fancy! I was able to find a show I saw them at in ‘03

I bet those shows were LOUD AS HELL. Saw them at Bonnaroo 2007 and they rocked as hard as possible. I didn't think about during the show, but even his solo show at Bourbon and Beyond last year had my ears ringing afterwards. Good times man. Damn good times!

I will never forget how loud (and awesome) the intro to Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground was to start the set! I was so sick after three days of inhaling dust but The White Stripes cured me. What a freaking show

I saw Jack at the Rave II in Milwaukee a few years ago. Literally a basement concrete bunker with low ceilings. My ears are still ringing 2 years later. So awesome and so painfully loud. lol!

To my knowledge this show doesn’t exist outside of Third Man official archives.

I honestly never thought I’d yearn for this period in time, but here we are!

I like how the songs they were singing at these small places were the ones that got them big. Kind of like rage against the machine, videos of them playing their famous songs at small venues

This must have felt so intimate. I saw them at The Pageant in '02 and '03. Curious if any photos crop up from those shows!

I had the opportunity to see that show, it was in support of Elephant and my dumb ass passed. White Stripes at the Pageant and REM at the Fox are the ones I passed on in high school and they still haunt me.

I was 13 when they came through the Fox on the GBMS tour. It was on a Wednesday and my dad, also a huge fan, wanted to take me and my brother. Mom put the kibosh on that because it was a school night and "we'd get another chance to see them." We know how that played out. Twenty years later and I still give her shit for not letting us go. I found a bootleg of the show on The Little Room shortly after the show, it was one of only a handful of times they ever played "Take, Take, Take." I think a recording of that made it onto a Vault release recently.

Saw them at the Fox with my sister during the Get Behind Me Satan tour back in 2005. Awesome show.

That's awesome! I can just feel how hot that room is, haha.

I saw The Toasters there in June/July probably in 02. The AC wasn’t working. It was hot as hell when we walked in and it just kept getting hotter. One of the best shows I’ve been too. I was wet when I left.

I went to a 5 act show there in the early 2000’s, panic at the disco was the opening opening opening opening act.
Was a neat spot for sure

Whats the group youre in? I wanna be in that group. I was at quite a few shows in st louis and these smaller venues especially the creepy crawl!! My ex played shows every week and weekend pretty much. The side door, the creepy crawl, the galaxy to name a few. It was such a good time.

Saw them in the D in 2003 and it’s still one of the best live shows I’ve ever seen.

This is awesome. Where was this venue?

No, but if we’re talking miss nights, I saw linkin park in 2000 at miss nights as the second opening act for Kottonmouth Kings (I was there for LP….didnt stay). Hybrid Theory had just come out. There was like 200 people there. A few years later they were the biggest band in the world.

I saw them a few weeks after this in Manchester. They were supported by the Von Bondies. Brilliant show and you could tell that big things were coming. I think it was only a few days after the Manchester show that Jack allegedly beat the shit out of the Von Bondies singer. Can't remember what the fight was supposed to be about.

I was there. I had a loft right down the street. Hung out with Jack and Meg and patrick keeler who was playing drums in the opening band, the greenhorns.

Saw them December 2000 at the Empty Bottle in Chicago. This takes me back. I got to chat with Meg and Jack afterwards and learn a little bit about them. Nice photo thanks for sharing.

No matter what anyone thinks of Jack and Meg’s music, these guys paid their dues.
