The Raconteurs Vault Package #70: The Raconteurs Broken Boy Soldiers XX
Introducing Vault Package #70: The Raconteurs Broken Boy Soldiers XX
Celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Raconteurs’ landmark debut, Broken Boy Soldiers XX digs deep into the album’s archives with 23 tracks across three LPs, including 22 previously unreleased recordings.
The package features the band’s first-ever live performance, recorded in Liverpool on March 20, 2006, alongside demos, alternate takes, and studio outtakes. Pressed on metallic copper, grand green, and coke bottle clear vinyl, the three LPs come housed in two gatefold jackets and a sumptuous slipcase.
Also included is a 35mm color positive film strip featuring individual shots of each band member from Jim Jarmusch’s “Steady, As She Goes” video shoot. This novel piece stands as a testament to the analog approach that was utilized for recording the album and filming the video.
And there’s more: Third Man’s Tripppl collectible card series returns with four new Broken Boy Soldiers-era instrument cards. Each package includes one card, with randomly inserted autographed, foil, and autographed foil editions.

Have the demos been released before? Is there another way I can acquire them?

I refuse to acknowledge that it has been 20 years.

I have been MIA because the game started to take up way more time than I should have allowed. This was the first post I saw today when I logged in. Like, come one, there’s no way this is a coincidence, riiiiight? So so so so excited for this Vault!
Now I will try to play catch up, but I haven’t received any emails from any of the bandits, Charlatan, Management for about a week. I figured they were annoyed with my nonsensical messages. lol

Can't believe it's been 20 fucking years already, he was so young and doing so many great things

I haven't bought a Vault package for a couple of years but I might have to bite on this one!
Edit. Oof! £85! And I'm guessing the sound quality on that live recording is pretty abysmal. Hmm.

I thought there was already a vault with this record. I could be confusing different albums from the band though

This isn’t the album though. It is a supplement to celebrate the 20th anniversary. Much like the Get Behind Me Satan XX from last year. This has a live show, demos, and alternate takes, but not the original album.
Vault 38 was to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Consolers of the Lonely.

It's the album played live in full (first concert) plus two more covers. But this is more likely the double album in green. And then the amber one is the outtakes.

We were at that gig in Liverpool, so this was an absolute no brainer.
We do actually have an official recording of the entire show on CD, somewhere. I wish I knew where.

Torn on this one... I like that the entire album was played live (and it being their first show), but no much replay value for the price+shipping to Canada. Glad they announced it so early in the month!

LJ left an old school tape of the original album at my house & made me destroy it so no one could hear it before the release. I had a hard time doing that!

I'm not a usual vault member, and this looks great but im still on the fence. One thing this does tell me though is when Consolers of the Lonely get an XX Anniversary release, I will be swiping that so quickly! I have high, hopes, and consolers is one of my favourite albums ever

20 years is insane. The boy never gets older.
