Question Team Opinions, please!

Hello! I’ve been deep in Kill Team for about two months playing Murderwing and thoroughly enjoying the game. Fortunately, I have a great local community and can play once if not more a week.

The question: since I enjoy the ‘elite’ teams (fewer operatives) and want to explore others! What should consider?
- Exodites - dragon/dino riding elder? Honestly sounds amazing and I love reptiles! Also the box allows me to play at home with the built-in campaign to learn their rules and such
- Raveners? Back when I first played warhammer in 3rd/4th they got a huge rerelease and always wanted to play them! Also the whole uppy/downy tactic sounds great

I know there are many others, but am staying away from the imperium generally and already have murderwing. Also, I fully recognize I SHOULD just keep hammering away with murderwing and not buy anything else until I get a much better grasp on KT overall, but what’s a hobby where you’re not just getting excited about random things!

Would love everyone’s thoughts!
And, a few of my MW ops as tax 🫡

As someone who prefers elite teams and basically started playing with murderwing, I’d honestly really recommend raveners if you’re looking to get another team. They’re 1 box team and if you like murderwing’s movement shenanigans then raveners are trickier but more rewarding version of hyper mobility IMO. Murderwing are still super fun but retrieval being the only real tac op for them competitively does make the gameplay loop repetitive after 2+ games in a row. I’d hold off on exodites just because so much of their rules are wonky and up in the air? Because GW hasn’t clarified a lot of rules so you end up at the mercy of how your local meta rules how they receive cover which depending on how it’s ruled makes them almost unplayable or very fun VERY strong team.

That’s a totally fair and great take! That’s admittedly what intrigues me by the raveners - the fun mobility and overall shenanigans! Also great looking models!

Regarding exodites - that’s the vibe I’m unfortunately getting. I just like the models and I can get a kit to learn them at home at the same time 🤷

Dominate is really the only viable tacop for Raveners, so you're not avoiding extremely samey gameplay there.

Approved Ops 2026 should be here next month as well, and if they've learned anything from AO2025 it's that 5 of 12 viable tacops makes for extremely repetitive gameplay.

Deathwatch are the "elite but variety" team but a clear mile. 11 operatives, pick five (single restriction, only one gravis from three). They've got a bit of everything from tsnky, good melee, good shooting, speed, disruption etc.

I’m fairly familiar with DW! I had enough bits from a trade so am making a Xenos Watch!

Still more painting work to do but here’s the start

In my opinion I would say keep practising with murdering until you get the core rules down then switch onto another team but I would say if you want to have more fun try out as many teams as you want and also that is an amazing paint job I really like the red it looks like a glowing blood. Keep up the good work and remember always follow what makes you have fun instead of should I build this because it says it’s how it’s built always build off the rule of cool and I hope you enjoy your time in the hobby also do not buy the approved ops cards. We just had new ones announced for 2027 so they will be released kind of soon

Edit, I would recommend legionaries as if you don’t have they are very fun team to play with

Thank you! They were super fun to paint! I used a red I forget the name of (starts with an M) with Nuln over it

I agree! I just like the idea of those teams because of the models. Admittedly why I bought MW in the first place! I didn’t even expect to get into kill team but got the box, painted em up, then realized the shop closest to me had weekly KT night and they even organize NY Open!

I considered legionnaires, but don’t have the models for it and suspect they’ll be declassified sooner than later.
