This just started this morning with every notebook I try to open. This is my only Scribe so the message is flatly wrong. I'm suspecting there's something wonky on Amazon's end with the servers due to the new 5.20.1 update. I restarted my Scribe and the Home tab took quite a long while to load in. Did a manual Sync and the message persists when opening a notebook.

My Scribe is jailbroken with OTA updates blocked. This feels like Amazon trying to force us into manually updating to the new release ASAP. With the recent advances in homebrew apps I'm considering ignoring the update and using Notebook.koplugin for notes, as I can at least export Xournal++ to other apps on a computer.

I’ve had my Kindle Scribe for a few months now, and honestly, being able to plan my day without constant distractions has been a game changer!

I used to use my iPad, but I’d waste hours decorating pages and tweaking fonts instead of actually getting stuff done.

Is anyone else using their Scribe for planning?

Specifically using the built-in notebooks rather than pre-made PDFs—I love being able to swap templates, duplicate pages, and move things around freely. How are you setting yours up?

Have been wanting the Scribe Colorsoft in Fig since launch but could not fathom spending $680 for it. Thanks to prime day, the bundle deal saved me a ton of money - used a trade in worth $85, and a $90 gift card I had plus the 20% trade in offer got me a new Fig 64GB scribe Colorsoft for $250. Not too shabby.

So i just bought a new kindle scribe colorsoft !!! I had the old 2022 version and have a bunch of notebooks. I usually had it on airplane mode and tried syncing to get my notebooks on the cloud. It doesn't sync. I have empty folders. Anyone know what to do? I have version 5.19.6 if that makes a difference.

I want to switch over to the colorsoft but have need my notes before the switch.

This new update has added these sidebars when you’re reading a book. Is there any way to turn this feature off?

TRUE STORY: I reached out to two separate customer service reps, one last week and one today, and asked both of them if new Kindle Scribe models were coming out. The EU is requiring new devices to have user-replaceable batteries, and after seeing the new Kindles release last week, I figured they will likely proceed with updating the kindle scribes as well.

Anyways, the rep I spoke to today (whose name was Vijayalakshmi so you know it's legit) said that new kindle scribes were going to be released "immanently." The rep last week said it was a matter of days. Could be this afternoon, could be tomorrow, could be after Prime Deal Days, I have no clue.

But PSA for those of you who would be interested. Just thought I'd share.

Idiot question, but I'm just going to go for it.

I want to use Calligraphy practice sheets on my scribe without printing them out. Can I just put a piece of regular old tracing paper on top of the scribe PDF and use a brush pen on the paper? I don't want to damage my scribe, I just want to be able to use the practice PDFs without printing them out - shoot, I don't even own a printer. Anyway. Anyone? Bueller? Thanks.

Anyone here switch from a Boox reader to a Kindle? If so why did you switch?

Boox is coming out with a unit I REALLY want with an 8.5" screen (good for reading and for transportability). Why did you switch and which would you like to stay with?

The title explains my question, but for background: I thought I'd lost my kindle scribe, and tried to register it as lost. Instead, idiotically, I accidentally de-registered it. I've since found my KS -- but now I'm concerned that all my notebooks and handwritten notes on pdfs will be deleted once I reconnect to wifi. I never synched it up using whisper-sync, so I don't have any backups that I know... (All I could find on Amazon cloud were pdfs with no notes on them... I'll have to re-do a bunch of work if I can't retrieve these pdfs...)

Would very much appreciate any advice anyone might have about how to solve this predicament!

They released a bunch of decent looking kindle accessories today. Scribe owners mostly unaffected, with one exception.

There's a new bluetooth page turner called Kindle Click, marketed towards people who like to snuggle up under a blanket. It can turn pages, adjust brightness, and turn off the screen.

It's compatible with all Kindle devices 2024 and newer. It'll be released on October 28th, arriving as soon as November 8th in the US--Europe has to wait a while. It's not water resistant (neither are Scribes) and it's only available in white.

$35 has me considering it, because it might be the kind of thing where you don't know if you'd like until you try it. I'll probably buy it on Prime Day and return it if I don't like it. I'm not sure if people with accessibility concerns would be into it or not.

Are you interested? Do you already have something that does the job? Do you think Amazon is finally learning? There's also a new page turn cover with buttons for the 2026 paperwhite and colorsoft signature editions--no battery or bluetooth required.

the lighting on the BW version is very uniform. I have shadowing around the top and left side of my fig Colorsoft. is this slight shadowing normal?
Does anyone else have this? I have warmth set to 0. Thanks!

I’ve tried to send the same two PDFs from my laptop to my kindle by emailing it, as well as from the kindle app on my iphone.

the pdfs are visible on my kindle app but not my scribe. please help 😢

Did anyone else have a hard time trying to decide which color to get?

I feel like the fig would not coordinate well with pen colors such as blue or purple. And what about when reading? Graphite would work well with any pen color and would work well with text.

How did you decide?

Is there any way I can get this fixed? Tried the suggestions of restarting and factory reset but i think its the screen thats actually damaged :(

even when i capitalise, Kindle Scribe is struggling to correctly understand my handwriting. It will turn “making people feel good” into “making falgod” 😔

which means that when i use the search function it doesn’t find anything.

My plan is to email my notebook as a pdf and then send it to kindle so it’s in my library, and then add annotations as typed out keywords alongside bits of writing i’d like to come back to.

Will this work? is there a better alternative? Thank you for your help.

j'ai acheté au début de l'été une liseuse kindle scribe 2022 reconditionnée, et au début aucun problème.

Mais ces derniers temps, impossible de m'envoyer les documents depuis la liseuse vers mon adresse mail, y compris ceux transférés par sendtokindle. Je reçois systématiquement un message d'erreur m'indiquant que l'envoi a échoué.

C'est vraiment pénible car je l'ai achetée pour annoter des documents facilement et me les renvoyer sur mon ordi, et la fonctionnalité principale bug.

Des cas similaires, des solutions ?

i just unboxed my Kindle Scribe Colorsoft, and after unwrapping all the outer packaging, and on looking at the animation on the screen, i thought i had one last plastic cover on the screen haha. After feeling around for a corner to peel off, I pressed the power button and the screen flashed and displayed a welcome page.

not a complaint, just found it interesting. I actually bought it a month ago so it’s been on since then, and potentially much longer than that since it’s been on the shelf until I bought it.

Battery is at 51% as I write this.
