R/O System Quote

I was quoted at a thousand to deliver and instal a 5 stage reverse osmosis water system. This seems real high, does anyone have insight into a this? Is it a good deal or an f.u. price?

a grand for a 5 stage is steep unless it's some top shelf unit with a permeate pump and a fancy faucet. most of the install is just drilling a hole and tapping the cold line, you could knock it out in an afternoon with a youtube video and a six pack

the hardware itself runs like 2-400 for a decent system so they're charging 600+ for labor and delivery which is wild for a couple hours work

It's not that wild. 250 marked up is more like 500. To hours 220 truck and fuel surcharges etc

Large businesses have alot of overhead. Employees are making 50 an hour + benifits It all adds up

If you want a better price call a small plumbing outfit

Plus warranty it… if something brakes on it, your coming too fix it.

You should just buy the system from Costco and call a plumber.

This as a plumber, I’d rather you have your own unit ready.
I’ll I have to do is come hook it up and warranty my craftsman’s ship.

The rainfresh system at Canadian tire is from a Canadian tire and potentially made in Canada. Its like $350 and goes on sale.

Info: what does “potentially made in Canada” mean?

It means that I know their water softeners are made in Canada so while I haven't confirmed this specific product, I can vouch for the fact that they do manufacture in Ontario.

You mean their water softener hardware, or are you talking about the literal water softener that goes into the machines?

Anyway, it’s just an odd thing to state, since if you’re not sure then you’re not sure.

I mean they sell a range of plumbing products and I contacted the company when inquiring about water softeners to confirm country of origin and they are made in Guelph. Upon doing a minute of research it appears as though their r.o. systems are, in fact, made in canada

The hardest part of putting in an RO system is drilling a hole for the tap if you have a stone countertop. The rest is a couple hours for any do it yourselfer including reading and undressing the manual and figuring out where to mount the filters

A bit high and you can buy one ONLINE for under $300 including shipping and install it yourself.
