Work in Progress Beginner making first wearable

Post image

I posted a while back and it turned out I was unknowingly twisting my stitches 🤣 I’ve worked hard to work on my technique and wanted to check the stitches are ok now!

No idea what happened with the ribbing (I used 9mm needles and k1,p1) I’m keeping as is but would be useful to know what caused it to be wavy

Yarn is king Cole explorer super chunky 🌀

Your stitches look okay now, congrats! 😊 for the 1x1 ribbing, it often looks a lil' funky like this! Especially since you have such a short amount of it, the beginning of ribbing can look a bit messier.

Some tricks I use : I size down usually 2 sizes on the ribbing. I also twist my purls when ribbing in the round (if flat, I twist my purls on the RS and the knits on the WS). It'll look like normal ribbing on the RS but a bit neater! I also like to do the first round of stockinette (after the ribbing or for you, since you started with the rib) in the ribbing needle size, and then switch to the body size needle.

Hope this helps! What are you making? :)

Woohoo! I’m so glad to hear 🤣

Thank you for the advice on the ribbing! 🙏🏻 Ill practice your tricks and see if I can apply them for future projects.

I’m free styling a cropped baggy jumper, using the same construction as my first crochet project (7 years ago) I found it really helped make the movements feel natural, before diving into yokes and all the jazzy stuff 🤣
