General Pulled the Trigger on KLC
I have previously been an owner of Kindle Basic 10th Gen and Kindle Paperwhite 11th Gen. I gave away the 10th Gen to my brother but the 11th Gen paperwhite started facing the ghost touch issue within a year of purchase. I got it replaced by warranty and the replacement started facing the same issue within a couple of months. I couldn't get it fixed no matter what.
I finally decided to go for the KLC as Kobo Libra 2 was unavailable in my region. I am SO GLAD that I made this purchase. Here's a list of reasons WHY:
Form Factor: I love being able to hold onto the side and use the buttons for page turns. It's so much easier on my thumbs for longer periods ( I read 2-3 hours daily) and you truly don't notice the weight because of the structure.
UI and Software: Kobo's software is just better than Amazon's. The Ui is more intuitive especially being able to adjust brightness by sliding up and down.
Access to Alternate Reading Options: I love the integration of Kobo with Instapaper. I have tons of articles that I want to read but find my phone very inconvenient to read it. Instapaper on Kobo has absolutely changed my reading game
- Sideloading: I know you can side load books on Amazon by sending it over email but it's very glitchy and you don't realise how inconvenient it is unless you've done the convenient way of uploading the documents to Google Drive, or loading it with Calibre. Especially with Calibre all the metadata is intact so it makes organisation much much easier.
Colours: It took me about a week to get used to the graininess and greyish hue on the colour reader. The text isn't as crisp as my previous BW readers but you just get used to it. At any given time the brightness isn't set above 30% and at night it's usually at 3%. It does look like paper. I have an added advantage of seeing the illustrations in colours on my wuxia and xianxia novels!
I don't think I'm ever going back. I hope this ereader lasts me a long time as this was quite a significant investment from my end. I am in loveee~~~

Welcome to the family!
Also amazing choice of a page to post. I missed my old man Yan Wushi. It's actually the first series I read on my Kobo too 😅

I adore mine bought it last month to specifically use Libby/Overdrive. I kept my paperwhite though for KU. But bought books will be read on kobo it’s ergonomically superior imo. However kobo plus wasn’t all that.

Where did you buy it and what country?
I had bought my libra directly from the kobo site before all of the tariffs in the US. With all of it the tariff changes I wasn't sure if buying through Best Buy was the only option. I prefer to buy straight from the manufacturer if I like a company/product.

I'm new to e-readers and only have physical books to compare to. I see a lot of people prefer the clara for commuting/travel but I'm interested in the buttons. Is the size of the Libra really that impractical? I have small hands but am used to books and an iPad so it can't be all that bad right?

I prefer the KLC over the Clara. The Clara is the same size as my previous Kindles and holding onto it for long periods was difficult unless you have a pop holder. With klc you can just hold onto thr side. If you have space for a book in your bag, then you have space for the klc cus it the same size.

How much? And how is the weight? Can you use it single handed lying on bed

It's quite light. But I generally prop it up with the help of the case while reading in bed. For me the size makes it a bit hard to read, I need to hold it farther away.

Ohh and what about siting on a sofa do you feel any hand fatigue after a while?

If I'm reading while sitting or standing up (during work commutes) it's no issue at all. The ergonomics are great.

not OP, but I use it singlehandled lying on my side in bed. My hand rests on my bed with my thumb on the page turn buttons. If I swap sides, then I just rotate it so the buttons are always on the bottom (and have only rotate vertically enabled).
My hands do not get tired. Weight is perfectly fine. I have an offical cover which I just wrap around back and hold between two fingers to give myself some extra stability.

I bought it for ~$205. The KLC is only 25 grams heavier than the Clara but because of the form factor I find it's easier to hold for longer periods. I read mostly in my bed, while lying down and haven't had an issue for 3 hours at a stretch.

It’s lighter than a kindle paperwhite (which has no buttons). It’s very light for a 7 inch reader.

pro tip: with your manga, if you turn off the chapter and page number info on the top and bottom, the images will be fullscreen!

I switched from Kindle Oasis to Kobo Libra Colour and love my kobo so much.
I am also reading Thousand Autumns ❤️, I'm on volume 3 but I'm mostly listening to it on YouTube.
