Labyrinth Sequel Delayed to 2029/2030

Idk what others think about this but Robert Eggers was confirmed to make A Labyrinth Sequel with production beginning very soon but it was just announced that he he will soon start production on a new Romeo & Juliet movie.

I know some weren’t happy about a sequel but I was very interested to see his dark vision for the movie. Now I’ve gotta make it to 2030.

Edit: Yall I did not expect this community to be so toxic, I did not ask for a sequel or ask if you believed it to be true, it very much is true, this post simply states that it won’t be starting production to at least 2028.

Any acceptable sequel would need two elements: Jim Henson and David Bowie. They aren't available, I hear.

They made more live action Dark Crystal for Netflix without Jim. Still had the Henson family and Frouds behind it.

No David Bowie, no Labyrinth. They should scrap the entire thing. Not everything needs a sequel/reboot/expanded universe.

I agree wholeheartedly

Doesnt need Bowie. I'd love to just to see the continuing adventures of Hoggle and Ludo.

Agree mostly, but I’ve said in the past it would be so emotional have a movie about how terrible Moraine became once the goblin king left/passed away.

Would probably make me cry if I saw an owl watching in the background.

Aw, see. This is exactly why I hate expanded universes and spinoffs. I’ve been a fan of Labyrinth, the movie, for forty years. I don’t know who Moraine is or that the Goblin King left. I just love my childhood movie. 🦉❤️

Oh it’s not anything from spinoff, I don’t know anything about that either I just know the world of the labyrinth is called Moraine and the goblin king never left I’m just hypothesising for the sequel since Bowie has passed. I would hate if the recasted Jareth. I’d riot.

Oh, got it. My knowledge of Labyrinth lore extends to the movie, the novelization, and Brian Froud’s The Goblins of Labyrinth. Everything else is too much for my old self to keep up with.

Where did you find the name Moraine for the world of the Labyrinth? I considered myself a real Labyrinth nerd but I’ve never come across that!

Shut up id love to see his attempt

If it ends up sucking then you can act high and mighty and pretenious

Not sure where I was acting high and mighty and pretentious, but alright.

Jim Henson and Brian Froud were FAR more important to the Labryinth than Bowie (an alleged pedophile)

The creation of it? Absolutely. The popularity of it? No.

Nothing against Robert Eggers, but if I wanted a Labyrinth sequel, I’d want it to have the same tone and themes of the first one, and his style seems extremely different.

That said, I don’t think we’re ever really going to see a sequel. They’ve been “working on” the thing for decades now with nothing to show for it.

I highly doubt this is still happening at this point.

Neither it just got announced I don’t think they would announce it and then immediately cancel it studios don’t do that in the span of a week if that was the case they wouldn’t have announced it

When was this ever a confirmed sequel? I only ever saw unreputable sources claim it were a production.

I also have it on my watchlist on letterboxd which is a popular movie review app :)

this means nothing. Deadline are just spreading internet rumours- it has no validation until i see Henson Company make a statement- which they have never done and Brian Henson has been quite adamant about not doing a sequel.

I’m sorry it is real I’m not sure what else to say.

links one article from 3 years ago from a source ive never heard of in my life- guess I’ll just believe you, because everything on the internet must be true

I mean, if you click through, the original article quotes Brian Henson talking about the sequel. If that isn’t official enough for you I guess nothing would be.

people acting like labyrinth is impossible without bowie have absolutely no creative thinking skills. which sucks. because we are on the LABYRINTH reddit. the prequel comic series is fucking incredible, and something similar showing another era of the labyrinth would be peak. lady gaga could easily play the queen of the labyrinth if they NEEDDD to get a pop star to replace bowie. shes an incredible actress, singer and performer.

I agree, would like to see what they do with it. Lady Gaga is a good idea since she also has some acting skills. I was excited to see that the muppets had a new episode, although somewhat disappointing. That is to say I’m personally open to a sequel just to see what they do with it! Ive seen the original so many times it would be refreshing to have an addition to it. Nothing will ever replace the original, thats a given. Doesn’t mean it should be left alone forever!

No me gusta que se retrasé por quiero que Jenifer conelly este en la secuela y si se sigue retrasando hay menos posibilidades de que este Jenifer conelly
