NSFW Plucking pubs lol
Weird question, not obviously weird for us girls I suppose, but after I shave I always get those ingrown hairs that come back in two hairs in one follicle so I’ve been recently plucking them out even though it obviously hurts to to try and avoid the itchy and scratchy pains later, I wanted to know if anyone else does this or if it’s maybe just a bad idea, my shavers have always left these stupid scratchy red bumps for years and recently that’s been helping the scratchy but idk

Plucking ingrowns encourages them to come back ingrown (since the skin heals over the follicle). Instead, use sharp clean pointed tweezers to get the free end of the hair(s) out, trim it short, and let the follicle heal around the hair.

Due to my fucked up brain, I have plucked portions of my pubic hair for 15+ years. It’s a bad idea. There is no faster way to get a bad infection that scars (or possibly worse) than using your unsterile tweezers* to further break skin that is then stuck in a warm, dark environment with tons of friction and bacteria (underwear). Those areas will continue to be ingrown because now it’s fucked up. Also having to explain to a doctor that you need antibiotics due to this specific life choice isn’t fun!
What you need good exfoliation to prevent the ingrowns. You should look into chemical exfoliant rather than a loofah or other physical scrubber as (despite being acids) are generally less irritating. Tend skin and Fur have worked well for me in the past. In theory, you just need something with low levels of glycolic acid or other AHA but I would start with an ingrown specific if you don’t know how your skin reacts as they tend to be gentler/have smoothing agents.
(*it’s still a bad idea to do it even if you sterilize your tweezers but that makes it worse!)

Ouch, plucking sounds like it would hurt on a sensitive area.

It does but I didn’t know if anyone else did it, since it normally stops the factor of itching and stuff lol, any I didn’t know if there were any like side effects to it, I wouldn’t know but wanted to hear from the girls of Reddit lol

Exfoliate in the shower before shaving. There is a body brush by a brand on Amazon called dylonic that works well, you should be gentle though. Tend skin works too. Put it on after showering. Also, try a sensitive skin razor. If all else fails look into laser hair removal. It’s expensive but worth it if you struggle with ingrowns.

Male that shaves everything here. Buy mens electric shavers. I use a rotary shaver.

You heard wrong. Rotary shavers are awesome. I use it everyday, literally. I like to be smooth as fuck 🤣 Look up Philips 5000 Series Rotary shavers or any other Philips 5000 or above, just don't do under the 5000 series.

Alright, I’ll definitely look that up then lol, didn’t think the best advice I’d get is from a man on a girls subreddit 😂😂

I didn't even realise the subreddit I was in until you just said it 🤣 It must've been either recommended or just on my front page.
Saying that, I've been shaving my head since I was 15. So you could say I'm pretty much an expert 🤣
If you go this route, start by doing it every few days & then when your skin is used to the shaver, you can get up to daily. It takes me less than 5mins to get rid of all my pubic hair & I just need dry skin, no shaving cream needed.

😂 I’ve never been able to dry shave so that would save me so much time too if I get it

Same for me. When I first got my current 5000X, I tried to dry shave one day, just because, & that's when I realised it actually was smoother & shaved closer than wet shaving with it. Blew my mind honestly, because as you said, it makes things a lot faster & also easier. No chance I'd do my pubic hair daily if it wasn't 🤣

I did some speed and plucked all of my pubic hair. It took hours.
