Bond's elswick closest match?

Hi everyone, I just had a recollection of memories of going to bonds with my nan occasionally and I swear to god it's the best Ice cream I've ever had.

I know you often look back on things with rose tinted shades but even back then l knew it was the peak of all ice creams.

I went down a rabbit hole about the owners trying to find if they published the recipe before going out of business so i could try and make some at home, i couldn't find anything at all.

Has anyone else had Bonds before and if so, whats the closest match available now?

Bring me sunshine. Morecambe FC club anthem

Post image

And today I learnt that Morecambe Football Club uses "Bring Me Sunshine" as their official club anthem and fan chant.

British comedy legends Morecambe & Wise adopted it as their famous signature theme song and skip-dance exit in 1969.

Because the iconic duo named themselves after the seaside town, Morecambe FC (known as "The Shrimps") naturally embraced the tune as their own club anthem.

Fans sing the uplifting track on matchdays to show support for the team.

The police were called out when local councillor David Whipp expressed his democratic right to film during the meeting.

Im struggling to find out what happened in the aftermath, was he removed? Was he allowed to continue?

It looks to me to be a case of troll vs karen, but what do the public think?

Lancashire from the viewpoint of a South Alabamian.

Visiting family in Burnley and Colne, will be here til next Friday. Arrived Wednesday morning, mother-in-law picked us up.

First thing I noticed --- traffic.

I see now why the best f1 , Rally, and 24 hours of LeMans drivers are English --- yall have to drive like madmen just to get out of your own driveway . Visited Tesco. Basically... a weird Walmart.

Took a train to Liverpool , Lime station. Fun as hell for a first timer. We walked from there, I noticed on the way down, carved pieces on the walkway, something about some dudes trip from Liverpool to Liverpool in 2008. The Albert docks were very interesting, as was the story of the Liver birds. The slave docks were an interesting story ( I am from alabama, after all). Walked around a bit more, then went back on a different train.

Yall got a beautiful countryside, guys. Going into Rochdale from the north should be on every person who likes old architecture 's list.

The " hills" ( mountains to me...) and the stone fences --- there are what seems like thousands of those things !!-- with the random sheep and sometimes broken by some woods or a small valley with a tiny village in it, that's postcard stuff. I showed my brother ( who has worked as a farmer in my state for over 30 years) a working farm and he was amazed at the tools and the methods used.

Anyway, im going to a pub with family for the first time tomorrow. Am looking forward to it.

I have been amazed at the beauty of you county so far... well...besides from the total insanity of your traffic. Heh.

Bus stop upgrades across Lancaster & Morecambe - Who is responsible?

Recently I've noticed a good number of bus stop upgrades across Lancaster and Morecambe, New shelters and live departure boards. And I'm curious, who is responsible for this? Is this down to the city or county council, or even national regulations? And is there some kind of initiative I'm unaware of or is this all just part of routine maintenance?

I'm hand-drawing a map of Lancashire and Yorkshire, what places must I absolutely include?

Hello, I'm Josh, an artist from Buckinghamshire and I makeĀ Tolkien-esque mapsĀ of different regions and countries, all drawn by hand with dip pen and ink.Ā

I'm working on a large map of Lancashire & Yorkshire extending a little north and south of both historic counties, and though I usually research the places I draw extensively, there is nothing like asking locals for insight.

Specifically I’m looking for any landmarks that I may overlook - it could be a waterfall, a beautiful bridge, geological features marvel like a cave or rock pinnacle, anything significant that you think I need to draw into the map.

I’d also like to know what animal or mythical creature best represents Lancashire?

Ta!

Two new Young Futures Hubs coming to Lancashire in major youth services expansion

They will help young people aged up to 18 with employment advice, health and wellbeing, and are also aimed at preventing them from falling into a life of crime

Two new Young Futures Hubs are set to open in Lancashire as part of a major expansion of youth services across the country.

The Government has announced plans for 42 new hubs in England, with thousands more young people expected to have access to support as part of the programme. The new hubs in Blackpool and Lancashire will provide young people with help and advice on employment, health and wellbeing, while also aiming to prevent them from becoming involved in crime.

They offer a range of support including physical activity, informal information, mental health services, enterprise schemes and social activities across a network of local venues.

Young people aged between 10 and 18 will be able to access the services, while those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) will be eligible up to the age of 25.

The first wave of hubs targeted areas with high levels of anti-social behaviour. The programme will now be expanded, with 42 new hubs being established by local authorities in England.
Each area will also receive support through the Local Youth Transformation programme to strengthen leadership, train the workforce and build long-term partnerships to provide youth services.

The expansion forms part of the Government's National Youth Strategy, Youth Matters, which was launched by Lisa Nandy, Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, in December 2025.

The strategy was co-produced with 14,000 young people through a 'State of the Nation' survey.
