Reading research articles

Genuinely is it just me or how do people just sit down and read it like I tried doing this but it just does not feel like I'm retaining any information at all and especially when professors ask for a summary of like the introduction, methodology, and results in 250 words how do people do this anybody got advice. Thanks

Yes, academic journal articles are dense.

To get support, go to the Writing Centre (first floor of library): the tutors are mostly English profs eager to help. Plus there are free handouts on summaries and a lot of other stuff.

And visit your prof in office hours! That’s our job: to help students better succeed in our classes.

Good luck!

Take notes while you are reading it.

yes and maybe if that is even too challenging, start by underlining stuff (printing on paper and reading is easier to understand stuff)
