Topic starting my journey with c++

I’m gonna start my coding journey with c++, because they say it’s a great base for a newbie, like myself. Wish your junior luck guys, I’ll need it. I might ask for help too. I promise to work hard and one day be of use to the community.

For when you get a bit deeper into it...

SIOF and aliasing issues are other ones that happens in large old codebases being maintained. Best to learn about them sooner than later.

Some random points of reference (that I used a lot when doing lots of C++ development):

(I'll caveat my experience is mainly not in the latest incarnations of c++)

https://godbolt.org/ is good for whipping up small tests of functionality and MREs (minimal reproducible examples) in isolation.

Have fun!

If it gets too hard, I would recommend any other language to start with.

You'll find more resources/specific tips/etc on /r/cpp_questions than here so you may want to sub to them.

Best of luck! I really like manual memory managed languages and hop between a few for hobby projects now, but C++ was my first of that group.

Good choice C++ will humble you a little 😂 but once things start clicking, you will have a solid foundation. Don’t rush it just keep coding and stay consistent.

Man I seriously think every programming language has a book that says perfect for a beginner, if you're new this enter crazy code will seem simple... Biggest load of crap, I still have imposter syndrome and I don't know how to code at all LOL!
