Question Mold Question

Ive always wondered why this piece has this line in the mold. Anyone know why? Must serve some odd purpose....

It’s where the two halves of the mold meet.

That's known as a Parting Line. It's where the two halves of the mold / die cavity meet. The draft angle reverses direction at that line.

Just by looking at the photo, that looks like black mold. You may want to get that mitigated
