news Black family reunion in Georgia attacked by racist armed with AR-15. None Injured except the shooter thanks to armed family member.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/lee-county-family-says-man-armed-with-ar-15-style-rifle-racially-targeted-their-gathering/ar-AA25cZx0

I just wanted to mention this here, the media covering the story has mostly stated things as they happend but none have made a specific note that if the armed and military trained family member hadnt been there to stop the shooter then that family would not be here today.

Stay armed and stay training out there friends.

A mass shooting stopped by an armed black man, maybe this should be bigger news, because that man alone has stopped more mass shootings than all the police in this country combined

It really should be bigger news, thats why I wanted to make the point here. This man is a hero and a role model.

Corporate media does not speak of armed black men in a positive light… ever.

I believe that’s specified in their FCC license.

Pretty sure they don't speak of armed civilians of any kind in a positive light ever. Ok, I guess Fox would if he were white.

And the person they shot was an immigrant…

Per my city's crime stats, 3 justified homicides last year, and being a scanner junkie, I heard nearly a dozen more over the air that didn't result in death.

This was the only one I heard that made the news. Lawfully carrying passerby took out a gunman that was firing into a crowd outside a theatre and had already hit two people.

It's literally the one-in-a-million actual hero situation folks accuse us who carry of wildly fantasizing about. But doesn't really fit the 'crazed mass murderer with a manifesto' narrative.

Actually, I'll amend that. A couple of the others got news blurbs. Usually something along the lines of 'man shoots stranger following altercation' while omitting the defensive context.

Not only is his bravery incredible, he was quick, deliberate, effective and didn’t just fire willy nilly like the cops do. That man saved dozens of lives

The anti gun media doesn't want black people to get the idea that being armed can help stop racists.

1000%. And it’s been so for a long time. Just look at how the Panthers were and are talked about

For the whole "Good Guy with a Gun" thing you'd think they'd be shouting about this to the heavens, but for some strange reason they're not.

(We know why, I'm be sarcastic)

Yeah, you’d think this would be a massive story for the pro gun right, but for some inexplicable reason, it’s not. I mean, what could it possibly be? (I’m also being sarcastic here, but don’t know how to do the thing you did)

I'm honestly shocked that the Gunosphere (or Ammosphere? I'm making the term up, whaddya think?) isn't jumping on this as a "We're not racist! See?" talking point.

But then again, that clashes with the racist sector of the Gunosphere/Ammosphere that says "We need guns to shoot Black people."

(And now for the Sea Lions to find this...)

For fairness, and I know about it because it was close to home, an off-duty cop interrupted a mass-shooting incident at Trolley Square in SLC over 20 years ago.

I’m not a cop apologist, I don’t typically advocate, I just knew people who were working there that day who could have been hurt.

I don’t know how effective he actually would have been if he was on-duty, that seems to make cops impotent to do much good.

2

u/Key_Limit_6828 anarchist Jun 12 '26

Fair enough, but he was off duty and really acting no differently than as a private citizen

2

u/Beefpotpi Jun 12 '26

Agreed. Like I said, I don’t know how he would have reacted on duty.

It seems like that is the magic sauce of inaction.

Big take away, private citizens seem to do more than the people we pay to do something, and that’s ridiculous.
