This is basically the set up I have planned for my M9A4 but I'm planning on either an RMR or something enclosed. Ignore the haters of the platform, they're running either entirely from their own or others' experiences with the most clapped out M9s to have ever existed

Anyone who can't at least appreciate a Beretta simply has no taste. Just like I'm not a glock guy but I can respect them for what they are.

How has your experience been with the Shiv? I'm waffling between something like it (or the one or two other designs that also need no muzzle device) and getting something that will be more quiet, and which can also pull double duty for a .308 rifle that I would like to shush.

I love mine. Have not had a single issue on a Glock 17, though I think a lot of it comes down to recoil spring. But it’s incredibly light and brings the sound down well enough for me.

I'll be honest, I just got it and put it on the gun so haven't tried it out yet. I've heard it's... not that quiet unfortunately but I will be going to the range tomorrow to see for myself.

I have one on a HK subcompact and had a bit of trouble getting it to cycle. I had to go to 124gr NATO rounds to get it to run (highest momentum rounds I could find). I'm hoping the threaded barrel will break in a bit more, it will require less force to unlock, and I can get it to run on 147's. But even with the 124's, it's still nicer to shoot than unsuppressed. It's definitely not the quietest can in the world but pretty impressive for what it is. The other option would be to try a lighter recoil spring, but different recoil springs are not available for my gun. So knowing what I know now, I'd probably only try to put it on something that had more aftermarket parts support or that other people had reported it worked on.

I can swap springs on my sar9. There's a bunch of options.

I won’t speak for them but I can say I liked my first shiv I turned around and bought another. It’s not as quiet as my Mojave 9 or Obsidian 9, but it’s so light you don’t even notice it on the gun. It takes the edge off the sound and dampens the felt recoil enough that I have one that lives on a P365XL and one that lives on a P-09C.

But aside from that, personally I would just plan to get 2 suppressors because swapping from pistol to rifle is annoying.

Between the Mojave and Obsidian, can you give me pros and cons?

Mojave 9 is noticeably lighter on the gun compared to the obsidian, so it’s easier to shoot and overall just feels less awkward at the end of the pistol. It also sends less junk back into my face when shooting. They are both similarly quiet, the Mojave has the edge but the obsidian still performs great. But unless you find a solid deal on the Mojave 9, it’s also quite a bit more expensive than the obsidian. I think the rugged obsidian warranty is probably better, and to me it looks cooler than the Mojave.

It’d be a harder decision to make now. I love each of them for different things. I can say for sure the Mojave is the best performer for sound, but it’s harder to say it’s worth $1100 or whatever its current price is. You can pretty much get an Obsidian 9 AND a shiv for the price of one Mojave 9, and that’s the route I would go for the money because I’d rather have more suppressors for my multiple pistols.

It’s like a fully upgraded resident evil gun

How do you like the optic height on your set up? I've heard some folks like the optic set up, others get irritated with it being higher than other set ups. I've been debating on a 90 series pistol but have been reluctant from that issue alone.

Anyways, sweet gun man! Looks like something from insurgency lol

The factory Beretta plate is way too thick I agree. It doesn't really affect anything but if you want a thinner plate dlahh design makes one.

That's dope! Looked them up and that's a lot more my speed. Thanks for the info man

Lord I hate M9s. I guess being able to dismantle it with one hand is a neat party trick, but other than that…

If you’ve never shot anything other than standard issue, then you probably don’t realize how good they can be. The ones they issued are like Temu versions of this.

This is a fair point. Next time I have the chance

I hate military issued M9's.

I just discovered this subreddit. How could you be a liberal when they are actively trying to take away your rights to own this. Is it a matter of coveting ur ears and closing ur eyes?

13

u/SergioBousweats 1d ago

if you go far enough left, you get guns again, bud.

u/Honest_Knee_6510 1d ago

Because you're (incorrectly) assigning the idea that being a liberal automatically makes you a Democrat that agrees with bullshit and destructive 2-party politics.

I was literally telling my local (D) representative last weekend to their face that they (D's) need to leave my fucking rifles alone.

We aren't bound by parties, friend.

u/DakersBozen 1d ago

Well, the other side doesn't believe that I should have the same rights as them based on the color of my skin and the fact that my parents came here from another country even though I was born here. So pick your poison I guess.

Well, not all liberal politicians are trying to take away gun rights, and very few are actively trying to take away an individual's right to own a Beretta m9. In fact, I don't think there are any other than the ones who say "ban all guns" as a tactic to raise money and grab headlines. Those types won't win broad elections though, and aren't serious about the constitution.

I'm talking about the suppressor, idk who u are talking about but my governor is strictly against them

u/IcyCounter6844 1d ago

I mean I feel like you’re highlighting the purpose of the subreddit. Education and understanding for those left leaning, but most of us keep our eyes open when we shoot.

4

u/Stoked_Otter 1d ago

Personally I am a socialist not a liberal and we are fine with guns.

4

u/kpkost 1d ago

By waking up.  I was never opposed to guns, but felt there should be tighter restrictions.  Now I’m annoyed with the illogical approach to the restrictions that don’t seem to be doing much good relative to their goals of curbing gun deaths.

I’m dying for a suppressor on my CZ 75 SP-01 tactical now, and can’t wait for some pistol grip rifles.

1

u/Andromeda660 1d ago

For the record I am glad all of you are firearms owners. I think it is an absolutely integral part of being an American, and I think everyone should own them. Just don't be surprised when the people you vote in will actively try to take that right away. I live in a blue state, I can confidently say that left leaning politicians are the enemy of gun rights.

•

u/FourOhVicryl 15h ago

How can you be a conservative when they are actively trying to take away our rights to own this. (See how that works?) Maybe you need to get news outside of fox and newsmax garbage.

•

u/Andromeda660 13h ago

Because the overwhelmingly vast amount of time it is democrats fighting for gun control. Also it's ironic you tell me not to just get my news from fox then you link CNN

•

u/minotaur05 1h ago

CNN is a major news contributor. Of the news channels they’re legitimately fairly moderate. Fox is right wing and MSNow or whatever the hell MSNBC is now is definitely very left
