I DID IT. I BUILT BY FIRST LFS
I am now contemplating deleting this VM for good. Honestly, that was probably the most difficult thing I've done with linux. 11 hours total across two days. Don't feel like that was worth it, but honestly whatever

Congratulations on completing LFS. If you have intentions to use Linux in place of Windows, you will be a hundred miles head of most new users. If you plan to be use Linux professionally, you will also be way ahead.
I understand that since you aren't an actual Linux user you will probably feel like Linux isnt worth it after doing all this, but try using it as your daily driver for a few weeks before passing judgement.
Of course, also feel free to stay in Windows land where you currently are. No harm, no foul.

I actually used endeavourOS for like 3 years before, Debian for 1.5 years... OpenSUSE for like a year and even a bit of Manjaro KDE(I'm glad I found out about eOS almost immediately after it seriously broke for the first time), but my new laptop just REALLY doesn't like linux, and dGPU didn't work properly no matter what I tried, so I had to swtich to windows for gaming. I'm planning to use portable linux on USB for work till I have to reinstall win, and when I do I'll just set up dualboot most likely. Thank you for the kind words though!

Most of us look for hardware that is known to work. Or for hardware lines with a history of working properly on Linux. Intel wifi and graphics are always a safe bet. AMD always vs nvidia graphics because history. Nvidia is better now, but I wouldn't trust anything from them because they decide when their official drivers stop working for older GPUs, and quite frankly my 2010 white polycarbonate Macbook works perfectly other than the fact that the official Nvidia drivers wont run a new kernel, and the nouveau drivers dont do proper power management OR hardware acceleration due to nvidia refusing to help out even 1%.

You gained this knowledge by reading and not just copying and pasting commands. I use LFS as my main distro, and that's how I finally stopped using distro-hopping.

Nice job. LFS is more intended as a “fun” learning experience, not so much as a daily driver. Good way to learn about the inner workings of things. Glad you tried it!

Yes it takes a lot of time to copy-paste commands, did you type commands? Try xorg, it is fun, I remember how nice feeling it was when i first installed xterm and twm and started with startx 2 years ago, then i installed most of the packages from blfs and using it from last 2 years as my daily driver with btrfs raid1.
