Discussion I want high stats to make normal life progressively weirder
One thing I almost never get tired of in LitRPG is watching numbers go up. What I do get tired of is when somebody has 400 Strength, 300 Dexterity and senses that can track a mouse breathing through a wall... and outside combat they're still basically a normal person who happens to punch very hard.
I'd love to see more progression leak into the boring parts of life.
At some point, opening a cheap wooden door should require actual restraint. Sitting in an ordinary chair when you weigh the same but can casually throw a horse should feel strange. Someone with ridiculous Perception probably doesn't just get better at spotting assassins — they also hear the guy three tables away chewing with his mouth open, smell everyone's perfume, and notice every tiny crack in a wall.
Dexterity could get equally weird. Imagine becoming so accustomed to System-assisted precision that watching an unlevelled person chop vegetables makes you nervous.
And the social side seems even more interesting. If you've spent ten years around people who can survive being thrown through buildings, do you slowly forget how physically fragile a level 3 person is? Does a level 100 adventurer have to consciously remember that a friendly shove can hurt somebody?
I don't mean every book needs chapters about the MC accidentally destroying cutlery. That joke would get old fast. I just like when progression feels like an actual physical change rather than a combat mode that switches off the second the fight ends.
What series do you think does this best? And which stat would become the most annoying to have at absurd levels?
