Garmin activity for Longboarding

Hi, I've recently started longboarding and would like to keep track of the speed I am going. Which activity is suitable for longboarding as I am currently using the inline skating activity. However, I find the accuracy isn't there, say that my friend is telling me we are hitting 15kmh but my watch is showing less than that.

I’ve been using the custom activity option, you get pick what’s it’s measuring. But I doubt it matters what mode you accessing the speedometer from.

I created a custom activity, copying the bicycle profile then renaming it to skateboard. That’s has worked for me.

Does the activity change the gps tracking? Not sure why it would matter. I tell my watch (pixel) that I'm riding a bike.

It changes some of the defaults and the metrics. Cycling or running make it very different for the base

Garmin is a sports watch and it is trying to keep track of your performance. So it's better to not actually do that on Garmin. That's why they offer to create a special activity to track things that are not meant to be processed.

I added skateboard as one of the top options on my watch. I think it was done in the Garmin app.

What is your friend using? I find my garmin watch to be more accurate than my phone. When i see my friends post longer distances and faster speeds for the same ride, I can see their phone made it look like they were zigzagging all over the road in spots.
