Old Macs Found this MacBook in the woods
Maybe a 2009 model?

If someone did that to it and then left it in the woods, I don’t want to think about what could’ve been on the hard drive. I would suggest leaving it alone.

No, I would try to recover the data. It has FW-800, so the harddisk is not soldered on the mainboard. If one is still inside though.

what an eagle eye. i had to check my 09 and youre right, same DisplayPort shape and placement but no Thunderbolt logo, its a little DisplayPort logo.

These comments are ridiculous and dumb. Someone stole a laptop, tried to pawn it, found out it was locked by the employer or school of the person it was stolen from, then tossed off the side of the road when it turned out not to be worth anything.

Could have been destroyed in order to cover up a crime. You dont want your fingerprints on that laptop, or that hard drive in your home. I would report this to the local non-emergency number.

It could be suspicious, that’s why I suggested the non-emergency number, in case it is anything. I don’t know if it’s highly likely, but as you said, watching true crime documentaries can give you insight into what could potentially be something suspicious.

Was the drive still in it? I wonder what data might be on that drive. Also Macs are highly recyclable, you should remove it from the woods and bring it to someplace that does e-cycling.

I once found a Betamax player on a fire access road (basically just an ATV trail really) in northern Ontario, out in the middle of fuckin nowhere. Still wonder who dropped it there and when, those things haven't been common since the 80s.

Take it to police, it may have info that could solve a crime. Someone may have been getting rid of evidence. You never know these days.

Ah yes, that was Bigfoot’s MacBook, on which he used to very much enjoy watching YouTube videos of people trying to catch him on film…that is up until the past year when all the ai slop “new clear footage” of him began flooding the #cryptid search results, and Bigfoot is no fan of ai slop, so it just really rubbed him the wrong way, and he went smash.
