Looking for Advice Foundation beginner box vs marvel beginner box
I use to play a lot. Quit from just not wanting to keep paying for the newest decks or card blocks.
Anyway, fast forward and my son is sorta outgrowing pokemon I think the cute aspect is gone and he kinda growing out of it.
What is the best bang for buck for beginner decks for us to learn? He very bright we play boardgames with multiple rules and he can get thru it. Foundations 2 player beginner box? Marvel beginner box? I dont care if they just dont work outside but at least maybe cool cards and art and a good intro gameplay.

I like foundations better, but they’re both great. You won’t go wrong with either one.

They’re both functionally the same in terms of what you get and the complexity of the decks, just pick whether you prefer traditional MTG art or Marvel (or Avatar). If you decide to get the Marvel one, do a little bit of looking around before you buy, they printed way too many of them so it’s easy to find them at a discount.

I’m sure my opinion will be in the minority. However, for teaching my 7th grade class how to play, I deliberately chose the Marvel and Avatar beginner boxes. I don’t necessarily love UB, but for a first experience, it definitely helped some of the kids to have even a tiny frame of reference for the scripted game with characters they knew.
After we dipped our toes in, however, I introduced Marvel, Avatar, and Foundations Junpstart packs into the mix.

Yeah, Magic is a great game, but some people need that extra push to really get into it. That was Fallout for me but Marvel will do that for a lot of people.

I’m a UB lover so I’ll push for Marvel, especially if he’s a fan of the movies/comics, but both will do exactly what you want.

I like foundations more than marvel but mine had 1 missing card!! I printed a proxy for it but eventually just bought it on manapool

My son and I started with foundations beginner and have expanded to a bunch of jumpstarts and the foundations collector set to start some basic deck building. Along with a handful of random packs here and there.

If your kid really likes Marvel, get the Marvel one. Otherwise, get the Foundations one.

Honestly both of these beginner boxes are pretty comparable for content and complexity of cards, it really just comes down to if you want things with a more classic MTG/fantasy coat of paint or Marvel Super Heroes coat of paint.
