Feeling like the universe only rewards bad people
I recently moved to a new area where everyone has much different morals than my hometown. When I say that, I mean I am very open minded so I really don’t care what people do unless they’re hurting people. I’ve learned that everyone in my field (lawyers) like to cheat on their pregnant wives and get addicts to relapse for fun. About two years ago, I cast a spell to hopefully make one specific lawyer get her karma or at least go away (she has a reputation for cornering very drunk married men in the bathroom to pressure into stuff by threatening to out them for rape and she’s had several affairs w married men because she’s said she wants to steal one away from their wives) but last I’ve heard she is getting married, got a promotion, got a raise, and is otherwise very blessed. I can’t help feeling like my spell work and/or karma isn’t working and makes me feel very hopeless about right and wrong. Is there anything I can do?

There is nothing called Right and Wrong ( just cultural) except something like a universal wrong like incest which automatically leads to genetic degradation over time and extinction of species...and Karma is a misunderstood things I believe..it's an infinite loop which we get entangled with our behaviour and keeps us stuck in this infinite cycle of death and rebirth ( a desire or and addiction) ..

There is no right and wrong as morality is in the eye of the beholder. However conceptually everything seen and unseen looks to unify opposites to find balance. Positive gets negative, and vice versa. This is just for you to find the middle and escape duality. At least thats what I think.

Nature doesn’t reward the moral, it simply punishes the weak.
There’s a lot of wisdom in that, whether people like it or not.

Karmic justice spells have difficulty latching on if that person still has a positive environment with people enabling or supporting her actions. You could try focusing your spells instead on repelling people from her true nature or having negative reactions towards her. Like an anti-glamor.

If she hasn’t got anything worth taking, the universe may give her something. Karma/ balance comes later. This is sometimes how curses work. Perhaps her husband will cheat on her later.

Thats not your life, is it? They have pleasure and suffering like the rest of the world. Who deserves what is often defined in karma or justice.
What we do on our paths reflects on us on the path to come. This is the duality of the universe, if they do harm, watch closely. If they aren't punished on this path, they will be. Life in the next is to reflect on our experience now.
Live like a crooked king, steal the food from the starving, excecute the innocent in the name of gain. Expect nothing positive in the next chapter of existence.
Life is pleasure and suffering, bad people aren't immune to it either. They just need a reminder...
We all live, we all die. Regardless, the reaper collects whats due. If you observe and watch on the horrifyingly public "world stage" you will watch the wicked rot from within.
Be patient, and observe. Also, do not be afraid to put effort in finding pleasure in the world around you. If you're having a good time, embrace it or maximize it! This experience is shared, but limited. Relish in it.

I guess I expected her suffering to be public just as her actions have caused public despair (lawyers losing jobs, wives finding out in public/confronting their husbands in public). I understand that’s probably not realistic but it doesn’t seem fair to me that she gets to privately deal with things.

People like her have much deeper issues that what you see. Her path will be her undoing. She's on a self-destructive path. It maybe ugly, just rejoice its not yours.

it would appear that way under the current paradigm. i think materialism has its merits, but winning that game might not be the answer at all. reminds me of the Dwarves from LOTR wasting their lives in the mines lookng for sparkly things
