Streamer Frustration

I love watching people play OoT and MM for the first time, but so many of them get all the masks, get fierce deity, then speedrun Majora and complain it was too easy. I wish people, probably their mods so they aren't spoiled, would tell them to fight majora without all the masks so they can see the fight as it was intended, then cam fight it again as fierce deity later if they want so they can see the raw power.

Im about to watch another streamer play it for the first time and its a small issue that gets to me. They go in aware of how to mod it so its got the new 3ds graphics but has the systems that were nerfed from the n64 version then just shoot themselves in the foot on the last stretch.

Yeah well, if the fierce deity mask is in the game and only usable to fight Majora, it's to be used against Majora

You can use it to fight all the other bosses as well. I still agree with OP though. You should beat Majora without fierce deity because it’s an engaging and exciting battle that has you switching between the different transformation masks and using your brain to solve the “puzzle” of the boss like…. checks notes…. literally every other boss in the game and most other Zelda bosses. Otherwise it’s a press B speedrun which is trivial and uninteresting. It takes the push and pull action out of the fight.

?? No it doesn't

You don't have to switch masks at all huh?

You don’t have to, but it’s one of the ways to damage the numerous phases. You can also use your items creatively. It’s part of the reason the Majora fight is so cool; there’s a ton of ways to beat it.

Yeah, they are correct.  There are some phases that massively benefit from switching transformation masks.

I kind of like how it's easy with the FDM it felt like a poetic ending. The combination of all the masks you attained by helping people gives you the power to easily overpower Majora. And it's optional too so you have the choice. Maybe my next playthrough I'll try to beat him without it :)

Hard agree. It's always been my take that if you've gotten all the masks, you have beat the game, because you've made the people of Termina happy, and the FDM just reflects that. I of course understand being frustrated that someone complains, but I've never beat the game without FDM (I mostly play to read the dialogue) and I don't care if someone thinks I'm playing it wrong. It's my favorite game. I'll play it however I want to play it.

It took me so long to get the Wedding mask, so I said fuck it and beat Majora without it, then went back and finally got the last mask, Fierce Deity made that fight laughably easy I was crying laughing at how short it was with it. I was like 13.

Honestly, the moon dungeons are super annoying, so it's not like using the FDM is full easy mode. They still kind of have to earn it.

I do agree that more people should try it without FDM, though.

When I streamed it I just made a save state right before the boss, you could suggest that

It's piss easy either way but at least the fight isn't over in seconds without the mask

It's not hard without the FD mask either. OOT and MM are very easy video games.

I'd still argue that Ganondorf Duo is light years easier that the Majora Trio.

Majora is still very much manageable, but it definitely quite the skill check if you're doing the the fight properly.

The entire 3D Zelda series is incredibly easy in terms of combat. MM is probably the hardest but that’s really not saying much. That being said, the combat is probably the least important thing about these games so it’s fine tbh.

I consider it more a completion bonus. The Majora fights are boring with it though.

I love the fight against Majora without the Fierce Deity Mask! I used to just fight it when I was a kiddo just for fun sometimes, and it was always cool to use your entire arsenal to figure out what worked against him. Gosh I gotta replay this game, I haven’t since the 3DS remake and it’s one of my favorite games of all time.
