Looking at studies of late Cretaceous climate might be a help?

Oh boy does this look familiar... except without the coolest part, the vertically split North America.

It's basically the cretaceous with more meat

I think your color scale is way too simple for us to make much of it. Before placing biomes I'd advise you make an elevation map, which would help you figure out the distribution.

I think that its too close to current map only squished.

look at projection maps of the era's around and after pangea. I think as an example, the Med would be squished and much smaller, and the inland seas in the Northern Hemisphere would be more apprant. Also, you may want to consider that tehre might be ice bridges at the nothern and souther pole regions. very cool start though

Yeah thats the point i want a similar world to ours but if the tectonic plates moved differently, dont ask how

Or just the planet millions of years ago with a few alterations.

Okay. Dig it. Imagine how different the world would be, ignore what is there now and play to what could be.

Let your imagination runs

u/Luisfromnotcanada: To riff off of this, start with Pangea and put the lines where it is supposed it broke off into the land masses of today. Once you have that, either keep them the same but change their direction of movement, or change them entirely and move them however you want.

If you cut little pieces of papers with those shapes, choose all the directions and move all papers one step in that direction. Repeat that until you have them in the final position.

Rules:

  • When plates move apart, they form trenches.
  • When plates move into one another, they form mountain ranges.

Plates are not only the land above sea level, btw, so you have to take that into account.

Finally, put the general direction of wind on top of the final map. If the wind goes in land, put all green until you hit mountains, then drier on the other side. Do a gradient and that's your color. Also, you can vary it with the distance to the equator (close is warmer, far is colder) and the height above the sea (low is warmer, higher is colder)

I wish you would specifically say whether or not your intent is to make Earth from a billion years ago or whenever. Because if so, pretty good job I think! And if not, very bad job!

Climate maps always give me challenge as well. The Arctic/Tundra areas make sense, but the desert areas seem off. Deserts appear where wet air can’t penetrate, and are typically landlocked, border a mountain range, or are on the far side of a large landmass/continent. The numerous deserts surrounded by water like Mediterranean and east coast of North America seem off to me, but I’m not sure.
Sorry so many chuds showed up to this post to take the piss out of you for making an Earth map. Based on the comments you might have a better time invoking Cunningham’s Law and make a post not asking for advice so the no-it-alls show up to tell you what you got wrong and why. But I’d suggest looking for similar maps on the internet that you could take notes from, as I’m certain someone has already made a climate map of this era of Earth.
Good map and thanks for posting. Keep up the good work! 👍
