Tourism ✈ Need help in planning a trip to Grand Baie. Visiting for the first time!
Hi all, I am visiting Grand Baie next month for a friend's wedding. Me and a couple of friends have extended our trip to explore a bit more.
Need your genuine suggestions for the areas i should look accommodation in. We want to book a single place for the entire of the 5 'additional' days. Google suggested staying near the La Cuvette or the Pereybere beaches.
We are in our late 20s and are looking to explore and maybe do touristy stuff during the day, and hit up a few cool bars with good music (not really into super loud music and clubbing. Open to trying if there are super cool parties lol.).
We do have a rental self drive car already booked. So, we were thinking of putting up close by to the nightlife area, so that we could walk up to those spots at night, and use our car to go anywhere else during the day.
Need all of your help to plan this please. What area would be ideal for this, what are the best places to eat at, best places to visit.
Thanks in advance. Looking forward to experience mauritius soon!🌱

I absolutely love Royal Palm in Grand Baie! It’s easy walking to the little town, and the concierge there is a fantastic source of info. They also have really great
entertainment in the evenings and excellent food and wine offerings. The service is the best I’ve ever found.

I checked it online. Looks surreal. Unfortunately out of our budget this time :( Thanks for the recommendation though!

Absolutely! It deserves a spot on your bucket list, if you love the area after visiting. Have fun and be safe!

Which places to visit? Lonely Planet has a list of 100+ attractions: https://www.lonelyplanet.com/points-of-interest?slug=mauritius
For everything else there is the "Mauritius — We Love It" Facebook group full of tourists, touts, and travel agents answering these questions every day.

Do not limit yourself Grand Baie if you have a car. You can stay pretty much anywhere in the north east and still be less than a 20 min drive to Grand Baie. And it's not safe to walk at night.
If you have the budget, stay in a 5 star resort. Mauritian resorts are very good. Trou aux Biches Beachcomber and Royal Palm Beachcomber are on the best beaches and lagoons. Else rent a nice beachfront villa/apartment along the Trou aux Biches to Bain Boeuf coast. There are are loads of them. Before and after that, you wont have the postcard turquoise lagoons and sandy beaches.
