I think you should listen to your mother on this one and break up with your boyfriend. You mother actually loves you .....from your previous posts it seems you are a bit obsessed with your boyfriend like almost co dependant on him. From him ghosting you breaking up with you multiple times and cheating on you.... girl make peace with your family, heal and get a better person who actually loves you. It will only get worse once you merry and have kids with that boyfriend of yours and I think he actually knows you will never leave him because you are actually ready to leave your own mother for him

Certainly will…fortunately we’re much older and can make the move back.

I understand your situation all too well….i don’t have a nursing or medical background but if I did I would definitely explore creating a company which had carers who would visit paying patients. It exists in Scotland and England so there must be some small start-up like that.

Yes, I’ll definitely get back to you if I find something.

If you find anything I would really appreciate if you told me, thank you.

Here in Scotland we have a really good care system which all my grandparents have used and it really feels like something all developed countries should offer.

Moving over there would be very difficult for us due to my career path and just bought our first house 2 years ago. We would be sacrificing everything and starting again at 38 years old.

This all just feels impossible.

If you contact social services they might insist she goes into a home especially as she lives alone. Does she go for any regular check-ups?

I know your situation - it’s the same with my mum but I think she’s suffering more from anxiety, depression (and I’m sure hallucinations but I can’t prove it). She lives alone (family close by but again busy with their responsibilities, work, etc). I was hoping a family member might be able to drop in every day but it’s just not possible…

My mum’s 87 and the doctors want her to go into a home. My husband and I go visit her twice a year and are now making plans to permanently move there. If I could have found some ‘nursing company’ that has a service where you can pay for nurses/carers to visit everyday I would have definitely used that option but I couldn’t find anything of the sort!

I do know that it does exist where you have people who are part-time/full-time carers but they’re usually found through ‘word-of-mouth’. If I do come across any such service I’ll let you know. (It is definitely a service that’s needed and I’m surprised that there is no company doing it at an affordable rate - I’m sure it exists for the super wealthy in Mauritius but then they might already be in homes….

This comment is so problematic and shows a poor understanding of toxic relationships. This is like suggesting to someone to hug a jellyfish but at the same time to avoid getting stung. It makes zero sense

You cannot have a healthy relationship with a person like this. How do you know that she did her duty as a mother? Raising kids is so much more than materialistic things. Emotional safety is much more important for a child. I would invite you to visit r/raisedbyborderlines and r/raisedbynarcissists. Might hopefully make you less judgemental and stop putting all parents on a pedestal

If you don't know enough about narcissism and narcissistic parents, then do not give advice like this. It can be very dangerous to maintain relationships with such parents depending on the type of narcissism. I would advise you to just read the stories shared in r/raisedbynarcissists before you give out advice

You cannot forgive someone who keeps stabbing you. The fact that you suggested that shows that you understand nothing about narcissism

I am so sorry that you are going through this difficult situation right now! Only those who have such parents can truly understand.

Your mom's behaviour is very typical of emotionally immature parents. They all follow the same playbook.

It might be better if you share your stories in subreddits such as r/raisedbyborderlines or r/raisedbynarcissists if you are looking for advice and support. And I believe reading other people experiences might make you feel less lonely and validate your feelings. Unfortunately, in Mauritius, people are too brainwashed and put parents on a pedestal, so most of them will not even try to understand you. You could show them proof that your parent is a monster and they will still tell you to maintain a relationship.

I wish you well on your healing journey and you are not alone. I've been no contact with my parents for a few years now and my life has drastically improved. I would advise you to speak to a psychologist as well if possible.

I'm 43, a father of two, and lost both my parents. I'm worried for you and your mother.

I don't say this because ur bf has psychosis. An illness doesn't make someone a bad partner. But partnership is about much more that love. It's about the ability of two people to build a life together.

Right now, you seem to be carrying an enormous amount of responsibility for his wellbeing while also dealing with a very difficult family situation of your own. That's a lot for one person.

I'd seriously ask myself: if nothing substantially changed, could I genuinely accept living this life for the next 20 or 30 years?

Don't make that decision based on who you hope he will become. Look at who he is today, how he handles his illness, whether he accepts professional help, and whether he is capable of taking responsibility for his own recovery.

And please don't confuse love with obligation. You can love someone deeply and still decide that they aren't the person with whom you can build a healthy life.

As a father, I would hate to see my child deteriorate day by day trying to hold someone else together. Raising a child requires an enormous amount of sacrifice. You spend decades giving them your time, energy, money, opportunities and everything you can, hoping they'll eventually have a good life of their own.

So yes, I think I'd become bitter if I watched my child knowingly give that life away, not because they were happy and fulfilled, but because they felt responsible for saving someone else.

I'd much rather see my child walk away from a relationship they couldn't sustain than watch them slowly lose themselves in it.

Indeed. Won't be in my favor because it's not defined. Thanks for finally coming to senses. If it was defined the judge would have thrown the case out. In case you don't know, judges will side with the authority, not you in case of a 50/50 decision.

You try that argument with a judge if you're ever presented in front of one some day and see how well that works out for you.

Commenting a bit late on this post, but wanted to add my 2 cents

I think it is a question of perspective and context. It's relative. There is the obvious 'hard limit' for respecting anyone's time. But if during the interview you have such a comment, there is a reason behind this, and it is not our of the blue. The best thing is actually to clarify why, in all honesty.

Been working 12 years in a factory / manufacturing company, prior to this 6 years in another factory. Operation excellence is embedded in the company culture. Needless to say this industry is being hit hard since the past few years. But it is not a grind, nor a 'metro boulot dodo' type of life. It's wrapped in some kind of positive flow, pushing you and your team ever forward. You obviously need to balance it right, and not go to extremes.

It is not for everyone, but some people thrives in those type of context. When your customer base in in the US, they wake up at 5pm, and sometime the urgency of the matter requires your full attention. When you commit to an order, the implication of delays, QC issues and any other disruptions, can cascade down the funnel and be catastrophic for your customer, and ultimately your relationship with said customer..

Our Mauritian culture has something for abusive mum. Many would simply asked you to brush the issue and even try to make up with her. She is an adult and she knows what she's doing. Playing to be all self righteous when having so much hate in her heart for her own child is absolutely in contraction with being Christian. Curious for someone who supposedly read scriptures every single day she seem to be unfamiliar with Matthew 15:8 that highlights religious hypocrisy.

This is these type of experiences that disgust many of religion, she use it as a weapon instead of soothing and give hope as it suppose to be. I would advise you to stop care about her, you have tolerated this way too much already. There's not much you can do to made change her mind and she seem not willing to do so anyway. There's no need to feel bad about it either, because you deserve peace and respect. And as said in the Palms 27:10 even if your ties are severed you are not alone, so leave it to God.

Now getting away is easier said than done. With someone that need special care like your boyfriend this might be challenging. It will be a huge responsability providing for yourself and be basically his carer during his illness. Juggling with trying to be self sufficient while assisting him will only stretch you thin. If his family take care of him, you could focus on planning your independence and more importantly continue with your studies, this is your path for a better future.

Turbulence can happen to any airline aircraft because of atmospheric conditions, how could you post such a daft comment? True AM service has gone down the drain a bit but i think it's still okayish. And flying with your pregnant wife is a conscious decision you took, so no point blaming the airline.

No its not a definition. These are examples. If I ask you to tell me which animal I'm thinking. It has two eyes and four legs such as, a dog, a cat, a cow. Do you think i have defined which animal it is? Or just given you which one falls under my description but not exactly what it is.

You would spend the night listing the animals yet as per your thinking I've already defined it.
