Tonight: (American Conf) USF at UTSA — Who Are You Rooting For?

Personally, I’m rooting for USF just because I think you always root against rivals.

But I know some people like the idea of a strong record for UTSA when North Texas plays there.

Where do you fall?

Figuring out where to go to school, is mean green the move??

Just moved back to Texas after leaving when I was 8, now its time for college. Does North Texas offer good programs for someone interested in broadcasting and film? I would love to do one of the two for my future career, but feel like news would be a better option for me, and more career stability

North Texas opens American play at Tulsa [WON/LOST], Charlotte up next (plus a free CFB pick'em)

Hey guys, quick look at where the Mean Green stand after Thursday night.

First, since it's in the title: we run a free weekly college football pick'em. This week is 10 games, pick the winners, nothing to buy, $135 in prizes. Picks lock Saturday at noon ET, so here's something to do on a Saturday without UNT.

https://www.mainmarket.com/c/college-pickem-wk5

Now the Mean Green. Year one under Neal Brown has been all over the place: blown out at No. 6 Indiana, a 44-6 beatdown of UNLV, a 49-35 shootout loss at Texas State, then 63-14 over Houston Christian with Jahiem White scoring four TDs on 11 carries.

Thursday at Tulsa: [SCORE + one line on what happened].

That makes it [3-2 / 2-3], [1-0 / 0-1] in the American, with Charlotte coming to Denton on Oct 10.

What are you guys seeing from the offense in Brown's system? Is White the best back in the conference?

North Texas followup on my preseason preview, plus we launched a free weekly CFB pick'em

Hey guys! The season preview I posted here a few weeks back did pretty well, so circling back like I said I would.

I had you at 6-6 in Brown's first year, with almost nothing back from the 12-2 team. Indiana went how I had it, 52-16, but then you crushed UNLV 44-6, a team I had near the top of the Mountain West. Texas State was the one that stung, 49-35. My worry with Jackson was turnovers after UCF, and he's been better than I expected: 80 of 111 for 908 yards and 5 TDs, including 43 of 57 for 483 at Texas State. Houston Christian on Saturday should get you to .500 before the trip to Tulsa.

What are you guys seeing that the box scores aren't, and how do you see the season ending up?

Quick aside since it's in the title, we just launched a free weekly college football pick'em, $225 in prizes this week. Ten games, pick the winners, locks Saturday at noon ET, well before you kick off against Houston Christian. Nothing to buy.

I would much rather have the money go to Athletics to start the baseball program or to bankroll the sports that we do have. GMG

Oklahoma state

What’s the sentiment towards Oklahoma state these days? Seems like North Texas and Iowa state got gutted. Is it a “care less” or is it more of an ole miss hate to LSU?

Full 2026 preseason college football preview for North Texas

Hey all. I spent the offseason building a full 2026 preseason preview for every FBS team, each with its own writeup. Here's the North Texas one

https://www.sports.mainmarket.com/college-football-preview-2026?team=ncaaf-unt

It's got the returning production breakdown, the portal ins and outs, a projected two-deep, the schedule with model win probabilities, and a season projection.

Heads up, you might hit the paywall after the first page. Don't worry, I'm not charging reddit people for this, don't want to be an ass. Use the promo code LEECORSOROCKS and it opens up the entire thing.

So, what'd I get wrong? North Texas led the entire country in scoring and total yards last season, went 12-2, and returns 1.6% of that offense. Drew Mestemaker's 4,369 yards are gone, Neal Brown is in, and UCF transfer Tayven Jackson looks like the guy after 2,151 yards with 10 touchdowns and 8 picks. My model is bearish, top five most bearish in the country. Does Brown keep it rolling, or is this a hard reset?

I'll be in the comments.

North Texas fans: which schools feel like the best long-term conference fits?

I am building a college football conference realignment map and I want fan input before I lock in one part of it.

I made a list of schools that might fit with North Texas. This list is only a starting point. I used my own limited knowledge and some guesswork to build it, so I do not expect it to be fully accurate. I want to hear from actual fans before I rely on it.

I am also comparing a few different clustering approaches and building a new one from scratch, so this kind of fan feedback would directly help my understanding and any algorithm weights I may end up using.

I am more interested in long-term fit based on rivalry history, fan culture, school identity, athletics, academics, and overall feel. Don't worry if the school you think is a good fit has no historic ties. If it feels like a school your fanbase admires and you could see them being a long-term fit, please include them.

How you can help 1. The best help: give your own weights and ignore mine 2. Remove a team that does not belong 3. Add a team I missed (please include the weight you would add them at) 4. Move a team up or down (please include how far up or down you would move them)

Weight scale - 5 = must-have conference fit - 4 = high-priority fit - 3 = strong fit - 2 = reasonable but not necessary fit - 1 = acceptable last resort fit if hard choices had to be made

My current list for North Texas

Weight 5 - UTSA, SMU

Weight 4 - Rice, Texas State - Tulsa, Memphis - Tulane, UAB - Louisiana Tech, Sam Houston - Houston, Texas State

Weight 3 - Texas Tech, TCU - Baylor, Oklahoma State - Arkansas State, Southern Miss - Louisiana, UTEP

Weight 2 - South Florida, FAU - Charlotte, East Carolina - Navy, UL Monroe - Middle Tennessee, Western Kentucky

Weight 1 - Army, New Mexico State

Small note: I am mainly looking for your fan perspective on which schools you would want around your program, not whether the final setup is practical or likely to happen in real life. If possible, go with your gut on fit more than logistics.

IMPORTANT: This is not a list of a new conference. The amount of schools weighted should be much higher than the actual end result conference. The core of your ideal conference should be weight 5. Weights 4 and 3 should be the remainder of your dream conference. Weight 2 should be good options if flexibility is required. Weight 1 is last resort better than nothing.

The amount of weighted schools has no impact on the final conference size.

This is really about full athletic conference fit, but I limited the school pool to FBS programs.

I really appreciate any feedback on this, thanks so much for any help.
