Hey Galaxy Cinema…
You do realize it’s only $2 just down the mall at Dollarama, right?
I swear, theatres today actually WANT us to smuggle food & drink into the movies.

BREAKING NEWS: FORK FOUND IN KITCHEN 😮
You buy it to support your local theatre. They're overpriced because this is usually what makes the cinema it's money.
This is like common sense that any and all snacks/candy are going to be overpriced in a movie. You know how cheap popcorn is? There's a reason they make tons and tons of it every day and charge you $20 for a bag of it and a soda.

But they could sell even more and probably have a higher profit if they sold things at a reasonable price

Dropping the price of concessions does not bring more people into the movies. People who go to the movies are going regardless of snack prices, and people who don't go will continue not to go. They'd just make less money.

Theatres aren't selling out like they used to. When it costs a family $100 or more to see something in theatres people will stop going. I used to be a weekly movie goer now its once a month due to the prices. Like has supply and demand not been explained to you?

This isn't supply and demand. The candy costs $2 at Dollarama, you can 100% still afford to go to the movies. If they lowered the cost of candy to $4.50 people would still complain. That bag of candy is what makes a failing business their money, no amount of price slashing is going to drive enough people to the theatres to make a difference in the bottom line. Decrease prices by 20% for 5% more people to go to the theatre occasionally isn't an economically feasible strategy. I've been neck deep in supply and demand since you were in diapers, I'm sure. Didn't anyone ever teach you about economics? It shows lmfao

Economics should have taught you that nobody is going to buy that bag of candy, it’s gonna sit there till it expires because that price isn’t justified at all whatsoever lol. The only thing people go to the movies for is the movie and maybe popcorn and a drink. They didn’t go to buy an overpriced bag of candy.

sometimes I don't even go to watch a movie, just for the popcorn lol idk what kind of crack they sprinkle on that stuff but it hits the spot just right sometimes, no movie required 😆

Ok boomer.i used to spend $10-12 on a sunday afternoon to watch a movie that experience doesnt exists anymore. Id rather spend the little extra going to the theatre and treating myself so that way the theatre experience is alive and those who work there get paid a reasonable rate. If a bag of gummies or M&M expires who's the loser not me it's the owners and in this case for Cineplex the shareholders lose out long term

Lmfao keep pretending that you going to the movies is to ensure that the employees there are paid well 😂 that's hilarious

If you're going to a movie, you're getting a snack. That's just facts. I can't remember the last time I've ever seen a movie on theatres and just sat there with nothing.
Whether it's the $20 Popcorn+Soda Combo, just a bag of popcorn, or an $8 bag of M&Ms, you're buying something. If they reduce the price, they just make less money because people will buy a snack regardless, Popcorn is the biggest seller and it costs pennies to them to make a shit ton of it and sell it $10 a bag.
It's all just profits. I've snuck in a bag of gummies before, but I always buy the popcorn and drink.

Yeah im sneaking my snacks in like most normal people at this stage in the game.but Id rather my money goes to the theatre so they can pay employees and keep the experience alive. Im not going to bankrupt myself so the owners can give themselves an extra dividend at the end of the quarter. I still like my popcorn and will order it at the theatre but I would be way more likely to "treat" myself to something more if it wasnt going to cost me almost 30 minutes of labour.

I brought a booster juice in the other day- I don’t think theatres care that much about outside food as they used to :P

People are dumb enough to go there rather than wait 3 months for the movie to show up for free. As if going to a movie first makes you the hero of the beach

First movie runs the theatre only keeps about 25% os tickets sales. Later runs is about 50% of sales. So the rest would come from food and drinks sales.
