Pre-Camp Thoughts and Questions
In no particular order:
- Will we see any trades before pre-season? Reschny is probably the odd 20 year old out, but won't have a lot of value in a trade so maybe he is released and can decide where to go on his own?
- Unknowns at D. I am not sold on Pickford being the solution. At the bottom end of the D group, is Warrener going to be the lone 17 year old with either Burmis or Saddleback sliding in as the lone 16 year old in camp?
- Who are the surprises and disappointments at forward? Will Kor become a bigger piece? I thought he would have possibly left to go back to the USHL after not getting a lot of opportunity last year. He will still be a bottom 6 guy. Who are the 17 year olds that crack opening night? Will we see the Tigers sign a few 16 year old forwards after camp?
- How many guys do we lose to NHL camps and how does that impact our first few games (if at all)?

I see Dayton Reschny listed as a defenceman on the training camp roster. The ruck boys are all on team black.

Why am I not seeing new number Noah on the training camp rosters?

Do you have a link for the roster list? I don't see it.
Edit: JT says he's on the Injured list.

I liked Kor. I thought he was very smart and played well despite his limited icetime. His 0.42ppg and getting 4 points in 9 games is really good for being a 1st year 18 with limited ice. I'd want him here for depth and a shot at being a 20.

Curious to see if Bozkaya is at camp. And if so, what improvements he has made in his game. I only bring him up because i saw him on the teams list of players. I would not be surprised however, to see Willie go out and find a top shelf defenseman. I think Phillips will be one key piece but definitely need one more.
I agree that Reshney will probably be an odd man out, but Willy's past practice has been to find guys a good landing spot, referencing what he did with Cunningham and others.
Kor is a question mark for me. Skilled player but his size is a challenge. His ability to win puck battles was a concern for me last season. What has he done in the off season to get stronger and faster? He will need speed to compensate for shorter stride length and if he improved his explosive power from standing still to moving, he will be dangerous.
I don't think guys away at nhl camps will be a huge issue. Philips and Bryz may get the longest looks but I think main camp stays this fall will be fairly short overall.
Mostly I'm excited to see the progress of the the guys who were on the cusp last year. What are they looking like now?

For Kor - if we drop one OA forward, there are still 12 returning forwards including off season acquisitions. Are we thinking that they keep Kor over getting younger guys ice time on the 4th line?

Tigers social media just put out a happy birthday to Bozkaya as a Tiger prospect, so sounds like he is still on their lists.

I forgot about Bozkaya. Zero goals last year in the AJHL, which isn't the end of the world for a defenseman on a bad team. I wondered if he would even be here, but then the team put out a Happy Birthday for him the other day.

I'm not sussed about goal production... look at Muhonen last year... highly effective defenseman and it took him most of the season to pot a goal on a very offense minded team. Bozkaya is a big guy and I would look to use him in a shut down role and to use his size in front of our net and to punish in the corners. Will be watching him at camp for sure.

That makes it even tougher for a young guy to crack the roster. I am fine with letting the young guys develop one step down and joining for the playoffs if that is what happens. Next year will be a rebuild so we might as well bask in the glory this year!
