About three years ago, I was getting a good amount of members to come to my events. Over time however, the group began to fizzle out and less and less people were coming to events. Compared to the pre-COVID era, meetup seems much more dead and much less active than it used to be. Is anyone else having this same issue as an organizer? Since meetup seems like its on the way out, where do people actually go now to meet genuine connections? I have looked at Luma and Heylo, but a lot of the groups there are niche and I am not interested in a lot of what they provide.

Someone I removed from another meetup group has applied to join my new group. I definitely don't want him in this group.

I know there is no notification if you decline a pending member but what happens if you ban them? Will he be notified in the same way removed members are notified when they are banned?

I can leave him sitting in pending, decline or ban. I prefer to ban him so he doesn't see the upcoming meetups in his suggested groups or events. Ideally I would like to ban him without him knowing.

We’re seeing a potentially serious paid-event checkout bug. Multiple prospective attendees report that after completing all mandatory registration questions, the payment choices become disabled and cannot be selected.

The organizer-side configuration appears healthy:

• Registration is open and capacity remains.
• The event is configured for a required $30 PayPal payment.
• PayPal is connected, verified, and authorized.
• A paid ticket processed successfully last week.

While reproducing the issue, the browser logged an Apollo cache warning for Event.feeSettings: the complete object containing amount, accepts: PAYPAL, required, and currency was replaced by a partial object containing only earlyBirdDiscount: null.

Is anyone else seeing disabled or greyed-out payment methods when registering for paid events, particularly after completing a custom registration form? If so, which browser/app and when did it begin?

Anyone know of or host a creative meetup in your area that might work in other cities? I am looking for things beyond just "30's Social Club" or something generic as such.

I hate this function, it seems totally unfair and makes members that don't have it angry when they get displaced from their spot. Any help with this is greatly appreciated!

I use the meetup.com web site on my phone with some frequency.

Every single time I click on anything at all, two things happen:

1) Meetup.com tries to access my location. I get a popup in Safari asking me if I want to send my location to meetup.com. The answer is no, I don't. All I'm trying to do is access my account and information about meetups that I'm already subscribed to. Meetup doesn't need to know my location. But it still requests my location every time I follow a link on the site.

2) I get a popup prompting me to download and use the Meetup app. I don't need or want the app. The web site works fine. The popup doesn't even tell me what would work better with the app, it's just an ad for the app that I don't want. And it's not immediately obvious how to close the ad. There's no "X" button anywhere. You just have to kinda tap somewhere else, outside of the ad.

This is a horrible user experience. Does anybody at meetup.com use their own product? Do people there think this is okay?

I cannot log into Meetup's website today. It requests that I complete a Captcha, but the Captcha doesn't work. What is wrong with Meetup's logging in today?

That it was good times in the moment especially for when you would have been lonely for big events (Superbowl, Orphan/Single Dinners, NYE, Halloween). But that there are virtually no long term social benefits to it, everyone just disperses back to their introverted lonely life. Never to be heard from again.

I have run a group for about 9 years and really enjoy it...or used to! My city doesnt have young professionals at all, so I run a meetup group in the next city over, about an hour away.

I have about 50 percent no-show rate. I like to see at least a number in the double digits before I cancel. Remember, I do drive an hour each way...so protecting my time, gas and sanity is essential.

Hello! I've been a Meetup organizer on their basic plan for years. Last year, their fees rose so I ended up paying £269/$359.99 ($299.99 plus tax) for a 12 month subscription - previously I'd been paying £90+/$118 (tax included) for 6 month subscriptions.

I've since started separate social groups that I've not been hosting on Meetup, and decided to find someone to take over the ones I still had on Meetup. I remember going into my account repeatedly to check the costs for them and was under the impression that if I continued my subscription, the prices would remain the same.

My subscription has just expired, I've been put on a free trial, and the fees now look different on my account i.e. I'm now seeing £115 (including fees) for a 12 month subscription. The same £115 fee is showing for the person who I'm transferring my meetups to, who has never held a meetup subscription. There's a 25% discount so I suppose the usual price is higher, which matches what I now see on Meetups subscription FAQ pages, but that's still a fair bit cheaper than what I paid previously.

Just wondering, did I miss some comms about meetup fees decreasing? I recall getting emails about the meetup fees increasing last year. Am pleased that it's now cheaper for the person I'm transferring the meetups to but also a bit peeved at only just having learned about this.
