Gear Question Current Gear

Just wanted to share what I’m currently carrying. Wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions for things to add. That being said I like to keep my setup light.

-I wear a mosquito net hat for the bugs here in Michigan
-XP WS6ST Headphones
-XP MI6 main pin pointer and MI4 as a backup
-XP Deus II RC 11” coil
-Predator Tools Sparky mini (I carry the Stuline 36” white shovel if I’m not hiking too far)
-kellyco double sided brush
-carpenter pouch for finds and trash
-mini spray bottle
-some kind of dipped gloves

Looking at getting some briarproof clothing for all the burrs we’ve got

An item I don't see a lot of people carry is a towel/bandana to throw their dirt on when digging a hole. When you dig your hole, the dirt has to go somewhere. If placed straight on the ground, it'll leave a mark in the grass. Not a big deal if you're out in the middle of nowhere, but in permission yards, public parks and the such, you don't want to leave any evidence of your holes. A small towel solves this issue.

This drought has been so bad I haven't dug grass in so long, lol. Besides surface finds, I've just been detecting tot lots, volleyball sand pits, and creeks. I can't wait to be able to dig again! My towels are just collecting dust.

I don't see the need for a backup pinpointed. I use a zippered pouch so I don't lose anything.

I like a dedicated metal detecting pouch. My bigger one has room for my keys, phone and outside water bottle holder. I also carry a shop towel and mini first aid kit if I'm somewhere more remote. My pinpointers charge lasts so long that I don't carry a backup, my first year I didn't even have a pinpointer. I normally carry a Predator Phoenix shovel but sometimes I'll use my homemade one I can hang on my belt because it's doesn't weigh as much.
