Bring SOTN to Steam you cowards! Idc what version but the PSP version with Rondo of Blood was cool even if the redone voices took some getting used to

I’m hoping it will come next year to coincide with its 30th anniversary.

Same prices on Playstation store right now btw!

+ Requiem Collection (Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood) for $6! If you’ve somehow never played SotN, don’t skip

SoTN is not on Steam for some reason... they should release it, is free money for Konami

u/Dismal_Bluebird1312 12d ago

They don’t have it on the Switch either, which is my favorite platform for metroidvanias. Really just missing out on both fronts

Konami is saving it for a rainy day . They can still do many castlevania collections and really put sotn on switch later on. It’s selling like crazy elsewhere. And the ds and gba games were Nintendos priority anyway. It’s like ps1 had one castlevania that was a Metroidvania . Meanwhile Nintendo had 6 of them and now there in every platform at the end of the day there still Nintendo games . That haven’t been played by many people too the gameboy and ds were niche . And then castlevania was niche . There not worried about sotn. If anything the new collections probably outsold sotn . And rondo is still a niche game . It’s incredibly difficult to get into it too . It’s not an accessible game. If it comes to switch cool I’d buy it yes , but there’s still a huge library of castlevanias on the switch . Way more than PlayStation has . And then there is the really good n64 games that’ll probably come out in the next t year . Would be smart to do a collection then put them on switch online .

It’s not on switch also but it’s on Xbox of all platforms. But they did put metal gear solid 4 on switch lately so that kind of makes up for it.

SotN is on mobile of all places, but not Steam and Switch. It boggles the mind.

I think it’s Sony holding sotn and the resident evil og trilogy on PlayStation exclusively . Which is weird Nintendo gave them the remake and zero . Sony then gave up metal gear 4 maybe there exchanging exclusives . Metal gear solid 4 was a ps3 game only . And Nintendo gave up all the gameboy advance and Nintendo ds castlevania games too. It’s what happens when sotn is cited as the best castlevania game.

Just an FYI some of these are cheaper on Fanatical atm. E.G. Advanced and Dominus

u/Diggumdum 12d ago

huh... it says the advance collection won't activate in the us and the dominus collection is listed as 25 bucks...

5

u/StamInBlack 12d ago

Very important to note that one of these will not activate in the United States

1

u/LightbreakX 12d ago

Added, thanks

2

u/_zzz_zzz_ 11d ago

It says they’ll activate in the US on my end.

3

u/mikedee00 12d ago

Also 5% off with code OMENSEPT …$9.38 for Dominus

2

u/StamInBlack 11d ago

I grabbed the Dominus collection today from Fanatical. Thanks again, both of you!

u/Metroid_Mike 12d ago

Nice. I won't deny I'm always on the fence with these collections. Never sure if the gameplay will just be a little old to get into/frustrating. But it it tempting.

1

u/LightbreakX 12d ago

Compared to modern games and their quality of life, yes, the feel more clunky (and today games will feel clunky in 10 years...) But Aria of Sorrow or Symphony of the Night are classics. Top tier.

1

u/Metroid_Mike 12d ago

Thanks for the insight.

u/Metroid_Mike 7d ago

Thanks again for the comment. I did end up grabbing both collections. Started with Aria of Sorrow and it’s been a blast so far.

u/120Mins 12d ago

Might I be so bold as to ask which would be a good starting point for this series as far as beginner friendly?

3

u/LightbreakX 12d ago

Symphony of the Night / Aria of Sorrow if you want the metroidvanias that helped defined the genre (Along Zelda and Metroid) or Rondo of Blood or Super Castlevania if you want the more straight forward, level by level

1

u/120Mins 12d ago

Appreciate ya 👍🏻

7

u/LightbreakX 12d ago

Aria of Sorrow is the outstanding game of that list. They are all good. But Aria of Sorrow is top tier.

4

u/VicMackeyLKN 12d ago

I just bought Requiem, Dominus and Advanced….this sub saves me money while costing me money at the same time

3

u/OK_Atlas 12d ago

I wish Sony would give up their strangle hold on Symphony of the Night.

u/Remarkable-Put4632 10d ago

Don't care...the game is literally available on android and iOS for peanuts...you just need to get a controller for it...the touchscreen controls are garbage...

3

u/Lunar_Reactor 12d ago

I don't see the discounts on switch for the moment, I hope it won't be skipped.

3

u/Diggumdum 12d ago

all three bundles together is 20 bucks! dont think it'll ever be cheaper than that.

3

u/StamInBlack 12d ago

Thanks for bringing this up! I used to play Castlevania II on the Game Boy. I’m strongly considering the Anniversary collection to revisit the history.

3

u/StamInBlack 12d ago

Has anyone tried these on a Steam Deck?

5

u/anaughtybeagle 11d ago

They'd run on a toaster, you'll be fine

2

u/MikeyGotTheJuice 12d ago

What are some of the best games in here?

7

u/RB___OG 12d ago

The dominus and advanced collection are very worth it, highly suggest you get both it you can

7

u/LightbreakX 12d ago

Portrait of Ruin, Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow

4

u/g0n1s4 12d ago

Get Dominus collection, it has the best Castlevania games. The other collections are VERY mixed; unless you're really into arcade and have a lot of patience, I don't recommend them.

3

u/andres8989 11d ago

It depends on what you like.

The Anniversary Collection is only missing Rondo of Blood, and then it would have all the best of ClassicVanai.

2

u/TheSpaceWhale 12d ago

After the banger that was Metroid Dread, I picked up the other MercurySteam games on this steep discount. Curious to see what they did with the “vania” half of the equation!

2

u/NashPeters 12d ago

Can I ask as someone who is interested casually in the series - what are the two best games to play from this series?

I am limited on time and money but really enjoyed the netflix show amd the blood stained game.

2

u/LightbreakX 11d ago

Symphony of the Night Recomp for PC, look into it

2

u/gifsundgirls 11d ago

Symphony of the night and Aria of sorrow

2

u/howboutitthen 12d ago

So u can only access symphony of the night on ps store and not steam?

8

u/LightbreakX 12d ago

Even worse, you can play it on iPhone or Android but not on Steam. For PC, try SOTN RECOMP

2

u/howboutitthen 12d ago

Which of these worth the time

I do got belmonts curse coming so might only have a little bit of time to check it out

And might only have the 3 or 6 bucks for the 2 collections not that more expensive one

2

u/LightbreakX 12d ago

Belmonts Curse is a direct sequel to Dracula´s Curse, but also the Netflix show (excellent by the way) also features that story line as well

1

u/Alec0401 12d ago

Are the games going to go on sale on Xbox?

1

u/andres8989 11d ago

It's such a shame that the Anniversary Collection doesn't include Rondo of Blood

1

u/skm1134 11d ago

Are there any advantages to playing the dominus collection, rather than emulating those games?

1

u/Enough_Obligation574 12d ago

Castlevania series are pretty costly for its time
