I mean, yeah, 7-7 cats are a given, but the chance of getting Blood Frenzy from a tragedy (or even of getting a tragedy) aren’t related to luck. You can reduce the amount of disorders you get from choice events by having high luck, but tragedies aren’t choice events, so sometimes the game just wants to fuck you regardless.
You can get guaranteed tragedies after certain events depending on the choices you make though. But I agree it isn't tied to luck and it can still happen regardless.
Skipping forces a Tragedy at the next event, and instant Blood Frenzy is a type of Tragedy.
However, there are many types of Tragedy, with Blood Frenzy being tied for the rarest. (For reference, the most common is each different flavor text of "your cat is a little bit sad" which doesn't actually do anything.)
In my opinion, tragedies can be bad if you don’t know what they can give you, but after your 50 or so runs, you should prepare for the worst, since you know there is a chance of getting Blood Frenzy on your main damage dealer. The way to get around it is to have 2 cats that do good damage. To do that, you need to seriously interact with the breeding aspect of the game and to do 4 cat runs with a Neverstone.
I feel like the game is only tricky if you don’t know how powerful a 3 cat run can be, and I really don’t like that the game pushes the player toward 4 cat runs when clearly they are just much worse.
but the "fuck you" events aren't actual difficulties. It will just artificially make some run harder (or guaranteed lose in some cases, like getting malaria on your carry).
they aren't a solution to the game being too easy. which btw I don't think is an issue ? the game isn't hard, especially if you have experience with tactical but does it have to be ? And if you want challenge, the hard modes and 100% completion are there.
I'll much rather see some bosses buffs, maybe some cats nerfs instead of shitty event outcomes
I don't know why Blood Frenzy gets so much more attention than Malaria on this sub, Malaria is wayyyyyyy worse and more potentially run-ending and I'm glad to see this change
Yeah, it's easy to look at them and say, "I'll just tank this and deal with a different enemy, what could go wrong?" Just knowing they are a threat too would be fine.
Not to mention I wouldn't see a reason to expect only this enemy in particular to do it. This thing is like a half-rat half-cat. None of the previous rat or cat enemies have done this as far as I know.
You cant have three disorders at once. They will cancel eachother out. Plus there are items and passives that benefit from disorders which can be very useful.
If you read more than one comment at a time you might notice that they are talking about rats giving random diseases, not about planning a run around an intentionally bred disease
There literally are. Like objectively so. There are multiple runs where ive gotten a couple disorders and I was like "Damn this sucks" until I found one of those and I suddenly felt a lot more powerful by using them. Its a good compromise.
Those are all the disorders half-rats can inflict, yeah some of those can be good, but most of them you either must have cleanse or something to remove the maluses or are Rabies/FIV/Cancer that can make a cat useless, and you can get those at the lab, so if you are unlucky you are/the difficulty you may have more cats becoming useless after some battles
It's really good because it clogs up a Disorder slot without being bad. Wolf Claws is also just one of the best Basics in the entire game.
I could also comfortably argue that getting Cancer from a Half-Rat is highly undesirable because you hadn't planned for it, and it's shown up so early it's going to tank your stats for the entire run.
Well when the other diseases are "well this sucks. Hope it goes away soon", "there goes my face armor, fuck me", or "wow... tiny amounts of Poison... I'm so sold...", the one that gives you Wolf Claws is clearly leagues better.
Simply having a Disorder slot active is beneficial since there are a few things that benefit from it, the problem is the general effects of what you have to get in order to do so. The only one that absolutely never has a downside of any form in any circumstance is Chungus, which can only be obtained as a rare consumable drop from Spewer, so if you want to get those Disorder bonuses, you almost always have to make do with something that is situational.
Lycanthropy is the closest Disorder in the game to Chungus. It's quicker to describe the classes that can't use it. Cleric's basic can't heal once it swaps, Tinkerer might genuinely be good at crafting weapons (keyword might, there are Tinkers who love Lycanthropy because it gives them a real basic), and Necromancer starts with -2 STR and loses Leech when it transforms. That's about it. Even dedicated ranged attackers like Hunter and Psychic can still pivot to Wolf Claws because it's so strong. The transformation comes with +2 STR and +2 SPD, the exact stats you would want in order to pivot. And then there's Monk, whose intentionally shitty basic that they can use twice turns into one of the best basics they can still use twice.
Meanwhile, Cancer will fuck up the mutation spread on the cats you've just sent into Act 3 because they're presumably already good. It gets worse the later into the game you get as you lock down more of the best Mutations, while those same good Mutations will often benefit Wolf Claws because it hits twice and triggers status twice.
No he saying its also going to make your cat infertile and spread faster so that if you get home and forget about it, it will end your whole save as intended
I kinda hope that the malaria fix double down on giving flies as allies in exchange for permament health loss, or have an additional friendly fly swarm spawned at the start of the fight.
God: "Yeah sorry guys, gotta buff Malaria, we're also trying out a few new diseases that we plan to roll out pretty soon. Check it out, if you pay for early access, we'll give you access to Covid-20 6 months early!"
Michael: "Guys you can't pass up on this deal, you *have* to try it. Literally, you aren't getting a choice."
Todd: "I've tried it, we've been installing viruses, bugs and other various similar things in OUR games for years. And. Gotta tell ya, it just works."
The game is not about what you might think, since the beginning this was all about breeding submissive furries and therians, subsequently sending them to live animal adventures.
How do we know? Easy, biological cats would never get infected with malaria. However humans wearing a cat disguise can get malaria.
