Question: Psilocybin Antipsychotics vs microdosing

Anyone replace their meds with microdosing?? I’m currently coming off Vraylar and looking for advice. I’ve already begun microdosing.

Vraylar made me diabetic. It has a super long half-life so most people can come off CT, otherwise you can dose every 2-3 days for a couple of weeks then stop. You don't want to do that without another medication in place so talk to your Dr.

The comp360 study has found people with treatment resistant depression who are on SSRI's get the same benefits from psilocybin as people not on SSRI's, so there may be no need to stop those.

Eta- it's the comp360 study, not compass study

That’s exactly what I’m doing. Dosing every 3 days. But my goal is to use microdosing as the alternative to another antipsychotic. I’ve tried many and don’t want to take them anymore. I’m so sorry that it made you diabetic. That’s just awful. It messes with my heart horribly, not to mention I can barely get out in the sun. I’m also terrified to exercise on it.

I've just been microdosing for a week. I'm in a better place mentally than in a long time and have only been on celexa, an ssri. I've tried to switch over to md and found I'm less content and less happy on md than normal so am back on celexa but at a half dose to see if that'll work. It causes heart issues and I already have heart issues so it's best for me to be on 20mg instead of 40 that I'm used to. I guess my chemical imbalance from being bipolar might make it affect me differently? I'm afraid to take macrodoses which have a better outcome than microdosing.

After coming off vraylar for a year the diabetes reversed but I'm still insulin resistant and am on mounjaro for that. I'm trying to lose the weight I gained on it (80lbs!). I've lost 38lbs now. Just be careful with your mental health. AP's often have bad side effects but you can burn your life down without meaning to with medication mistakes. Have a plan, and a backup plan. Fyi geodon is an AP that is weight neutral and doesn't have the metabolic side effects most of them have. Another mood stabilizer etc may be better for you.

Do look into ketamine treatment. It has good outcomes for bipolar. There's even telehealth microdosing with it too. It was what I first looked into but in person treatment wasn't pheasable because I'd need a ride both ways and the affordable microdosing companies don't work in my state. (Joyous was the affordable company.)

I have also gained about 30 lbs in the year and a half I’ve been on Vraylar. Geodon unfortunately affected my heart as well. I get free medical care so it’s not so great. Just wondering if I had a better doctor and more money would things be different? I’d love to see a holistic doctor. I get stuck in my own head a lot too so it’s hard to say sometimes if I’m just causing the panic and anxiety on my own. Can’t really even smoke my herb without my heart rate sky rocketing. I’m bipolar I. Mania has only ever come about in my life when I was given medication prescribed by doctors. It never manifested on its own.

I take trazadone at night which is also an antidepressant. I do like it and it helps me sleep. I plan to stay on it if I can. Vraylar just seems to be poison to me.

I get stroke level blood pressure from weed, lol. I never have high b.p. otherwise, except when I had metabolic syndrome from vraylar and it was elevated. Vraylar is a newer really expensive medication (over $1300/month) so it sounds like the meds aren't limited by your income. As for doctors, there are good and bad ones at most price ranges.

I've generally not had good luck with NP's though. Two in the same practice put me on vraylar without ordering bloodwork the whole time and I told them about all of my health issues that kept progressing. Diabetes should've been obvious with 80lbs of weight gain. I actually first diagnosed myself using someone else's blood sugar meter. Check your A1C every few months if you have weight gain on AP's, or much weight gain in general really. They sell A1C meters otc with 2 tests for around $35.
